What are the odds of getting a picnic table and not a car at Sci Fi? I’m thinking my two sons age 6 Will be really disappointed if we do not sit in the car. And also if we book as a table of three will we have to squeeze into one row or would they give us two rows? Thank you so much

We have gone to Sci Fi so many times and never got a table. When you check in just tell them you want a car. Also we have gone with an odd number of people and could not have squeezed in one row. Unless your kids are toddlers you will need two rows. You will be fine. Our kids love Sci Fi. Enjoy!

I’ve made reservations at Sci Fi nearly every trip we’ve taken over the last 10 years and have never been taken to a picnic table. We’ve been asked and declined so perhaps we waited an extra 15 minutes or so but as far as my experience they’ll ask you first and you have the option of saying no. (This May have changed I’m just speaking of my experience). They will not squeeze you in one row if/when you get seated in a car, you will definitely get 2 rows.

It is usually 2 people per row, and they typically reserve the tables toward the back for guests who can not sit in the car seating (a guest in a wheelchair for example). They will use them if it’s busy but will usually also ask first. One time I did hear them offer the table to guest without an ADR.

As with the others we eat there on pretty much every trip and have never had a picnic table so you should be fine. We are also a family of 3 and always get 2 rows. My daughter usually sits by herself which she loves.

Should a party of 7 worry about being put at a taxable instead of a car? While we are a party of 7, it is technically two groups - a family of 4 and and family of 3.
If we are seated as one whole group, Is it possible our 9, 7 and 6 year olds can fit in one row?

I've only eaten there one time and we had to sit at one of the picnic tables in the back. I was so disappointed. I asked if we could have a car instead and were told "No, this is the table we have assigned for your ADR". There were just 3 of us - me, my friend and her little girl. DH and I have ADRs there again this November and I really hope we get a car this time.

We've eaten there every trip and always have had car seating and would be extremely disappointed if we did not. When checking in, I would just mention that you would like car seating.

Does anyone know where they sit solo diners? do they tend to not sit them in cars, or is it random? I'd actually prefer a picnic table, so I'm probably the odd one out!

Picnic tables are for walk ups, there is a sign at the podium that says that. If you have an ADR you should get a car.

You will be given two benches of the car (maybe a whole car since some are only 2). The boys sit together and you can sit behind them.

They have tables that are a car at each end, like bookends. They sit larger groups there or they split you in two cars if that is okay. One trip we split.

That's too bad, there are even signs at the podium. I would check in early, tell them what happened last time and that you will wait for a car as the picnic table was not okay.

When I went solo, they sat me in a car with a family. I had the back row all to myself while the family was in the other rows. It was kind of awkward, but I got over it quickly enough.

We had a party of 7 and they gave us two cars side by side, so we took up 4 rows.

We have been there several times and have always gotten a car. My understanding is the tables are for walkups or people who specifically ask for a table - disability, etc.
When you check in, just ask to clarify that you will get a car. That should solve any question.

Standard procedure .... you are called a “hitchhiker” .... sometimes they say it, sometimes they don’t.
