Sci-Fi for birthdays?

we're going to celebrate my DD's 12th b-day at the sci-fi. when i made the PS i asked if they did anything and the CM gave me a # to call 48 hrs. in adv. to order a cake. is this new or is this just what the sci-fi does?

We are celebrating two birthdays in October, one at 1900 Park Fare and another at Garden Grill. I was told the same thing.

Just make sure you REMIND them it is for a birthday...we made PS in Aug '03 for my son's bday.....stated it was for a bday celebration then, and also again when we checked in at the desk. Not only did we wait 55 minutes to be seated (our ps time was 7, finally called at 7:55) they completely forgot it was his bday and cake and all. I had mentioned to the waitress that we had a cake ordered so would not need dessert, when the cake wasn't arriving we went ahead and sang to DS anyway, and the the waitress said," if I had known it was his bday I would have had a few surprises!" We had a great time in spite of this goof, kids loved the theming, food, car...bad B movies...it was a blast and DS had a great bday dinner all in all. As we were getting ready to leave the waitress came over with a glow in the dark frisbee with the date and happy birthday from Sci Fi written on it...that was very cool of her to do. So, since the cake never showed we DID end up ordering a Strawberry dessert and split it. It was delicious!
I think you will have a blast there for a birthday. One of the reasons we chose it was because it is dark in there and we thought the candles on the cake would look neat as opposed to a well lit place. We even had the trick candles along...just put them in the strawberry dessert instead!
Enjoy Sci-Fi! We will be back this Christmas to eat there again...but we will be prepared to wait a while.
