A bunch of really intelligent looking Sci Fi films have been coming out lately - District 9 for instance. I am personally really looking forward to Surrogates with Bruce Willis. Here is the trailer in case you haven't seen it. Only a few more weeks til I can see Bruce on the big screen again :cool1:

They finally got District 9 at the theater here in town. I think I'm going to try to get DH and DS to go with me this weekend.

The Bruce Willis movie looks pretty interesting too :thumbsup2

Enjoy the film! And I do admit to having a Willis soft spot, but honestly, he is kind of the king of action/ sci fi films. From the footage that I have seen, there seems to be a really interesting story in addition to special effects, which can be rare.

I might see District 9 sometime next week when my boyfriend gets back from a business trip. Surrogates also looks good.

We were able to watch District 9 last weekend and it was...not what we were expecting! It started off very oddly...I actually couldn't tell if it was supposed to be funny or not!!! LOL BUT, it def got better and I felt that the whole "story" was quite interesting and original!

We are looking forward to Surrogates in part because many scenes were filmed at an old mill building (Draper building) in the town next door - and you can really tell when you see the scenes! :thumbsup2

That's exciting - they just released more footage, hopefully these give even MORE insight into the story. Wonder if you can see any of that mill in these scenes...

WOW!! That looks like a great movie!!
Can't wait to see it! :thumbsup2

Well we ended up not going to the movies last weekend. I still want to see District 9 but I hear that they use the shaky camera effects - and I hate that. Makes me motion sick. So I may wait for the DVD.

Surrogates looks really good - that's a must see for me! :goodvibes

District 9 was wonderful. A must see for true Sci-Fi fanatics (like me!).

Ooo... I had heard about Surrogates but hadn't really looked at any of the trailers. Looks really cool!

Read an interesting interview with one of the co-stars, Radha Mitchell. I know her from a Woody Allen movie, Melinda and Melinda - anyone else know of her?
Anyways, enjoy-

The Jonathan Mostow-directed futuristic thriller stars Willis as an FBI agent who enlists the aid of his own surrogate to investigate the murder of the genius college student who invented the surrogates. As the case grows more complicated, however, the withdrawn detective discovers that in order to actually catch the killer he will have to venture outside the safety of his own home for the first time in many years, and enlists the aid of another agent (Mitchell) in tracking his target down. “I thought the script itself is a very interesting conceit, the idea of, what is a surrogate reality and how does it sort of reflect on the society that we currently live in? What are the choices that we’re making? All of those sort of issues are sort of there, implanted in the script, and I think that’s what attracted me to it,” Mitchell further explains.

I totally got the wrong idea about the film the Surrogates, I was trying to think how on earth could Bruce Willis be a surragate mother!!!!!!!!!!

haha too funny. No, Bruce Willis is not a surrogate mother, but he does have a surrogate, so close ;)

I caught this video this morning, it shows more about the groups that oppose the use of surrogacy - interesting stuff!
