Okay give the lowdown?

I had to switch our Luau from Thursday to Wednesday because I didn't want to miss Fantasmic at DHS. So I needed to book an ADR at DHS instead. I would love the Italian restaurant, but a quick glimpse at the menu and I don't think there would be anything there ds#1 would eat :(

So I booked Sci - Fi without really researching it.

Give me the good the bad and the ugly!:)

If you do a search on this one, you'll find a TON of reviews.

Just like any other restaurant at WDW, a lot will enjoy it, and a lot will not enjoy it as much.

We went our first trip and the atmosphere was very cool. The food was just eh. Nothing to write home about.

But, I will tell you that we're actually going back for our upcoming trip, which will be #4 for our family. This time we're going to try a lunch time slot instead of dinner.

It's not a place we'd go back to every time, but I think it's a fun experience and worth trying!

We really enjoyed it - our burgers and shakes were really good and we would definitely go back! :)

My thoughts are this. We love the ambience of the rest. Some people think the food is not good. In my opinion it is regular fair at a WDW rest. The food is OK, not spectacular but we don't go there for the food we go for the atmosphere. The burger or the reuben are just fine.

This was near the very top of my kids faves and we went to CRT! The food was really good the day we went. If you go take your pix with the flash off it will give a great effect of the building and you will be well lit by the dashboard lights :)

This.

I'm perfectly happy with average food :lmao: We are definitely not food connoisseurs around here. As long as my food is cooked I am happy ;)

I'd say the food is on par with Friendly's or TGI Friday's. Not awful, not great.

Our family eats at the Sci Fi every trip. We are happy w/the food and have had several of the items on the menu. We look at this place as another theme part experience. My husband and I are of the age when we went to the drive in a lot growing up. So this place brings back memories. Our two boys, 26 & 20, have never been and get a real kick out of the theming here. Last year we went with the kids and 3 of their friends, everyone had a great time. My oldest son wrote down the name of all the old sci fi movies and has been ordering them from Netflix to watch all year.

Having been to Sci Fi 17 years ago and think it was just OK I thought I would give it another try and I am glad I did. I thought the food we great. I loved the Spinach and Artichoke dip and the burger and my DH loved the BLT Soup. I would definitely go back.

The food was okay, not great. I had ribs and they were good, but the sides were horrible, as was our waiter. The milkshakes were good. I loved the atmosphere, DD was not a fan of the campy horror flicks. We were totally mixed on it.

I agree with a bunch of the pp's. We have now been there 3 times, it is an experience eating in the car with the big movie screen. The movies are on a loop so if you are there for a while you will see the same ones over and over. The burgers are really good and the milkshakes are awesome. Those are really the only things that I have tried. I believe some of our family had the spinach dip and that was good.
I am not a big sci-fi person but I thought it was a really neat experience. 1 negative though is that it is VERY dark in there

We were just there on Sunday. To me, it is a place I would not go back to. I didn't like the pasta dish I had (I don't eat red meat so I'm limited in what I can eat there). My 5 year old was a bit freaked out at times over the movie clips and it was just too dark in there for my taste.

Are the Sci-Fi movies really campy or would they be too much for a 4,5,6 and 7 year old. We have a lunch ressie for a week from tomorrow and on our last trip I looked in and thought it would be something fun for the kids to sit in the cars and watch movies while they eat. My 2 kids can sometimes get scared of the disney villains but aren't scared of the Ghostbusters ghosts.

Thanks

They are campy but also can be a bit scary. They show the trailer for movies like the 50 Foot Woman, the Man who Wouldn't stop Growing. At one point he throws a syringe at someone and it sticks them. Everyone moaned in the restaurant. Not something I wanted my 5 year old to see (a man with a giant syringe through him). But then they have cartoons that are space aged, too. The commercials from back then are funny to watch.

I will agree that the food is on par with a chain restaurant like TGI Friday's. It isn't the worst ever, but it is a little bland and not super. We went to get just appetizers and cool drinks and to experience the place. I was happy with seeing the restaurant that way, and the kids loved the cars and sci-fi.

The burgers and shakes are really good. Burgers are not on the dinner menu but they will fix one for you if you ask. We think it is really fun. Our first choice at DHS.

We were there last week for dinner and thought the food was not good. I had the pasta (yuk) and my mom had the chicken (yuk) and my sister had the salmon, I think (ok). The best thing on the menu was the milkshakes and desserts. The kids meals were the same as every other restaurant. We did like the atmosphere. The kids loved the movies and car setting.

Stick with burgers and shakes and it's a great place. We like it for the atmosphere - it's one place my kids ask to go year after year.
