Hi - We are not going until January but just have a question. We are staying Poly concierge which we were upgraded to last trip - now spoiled. I am looking at different restaurants we want to try. We have never eaten at Sci-Fi diner and was wondering if we could go there for lunch and just have maybe desserts or appetizers. Since we will be eating breakfast at the Poly are family is usually not real hungry for lunch (well maybe our 11 year old - he loves to eat). I just am not sure if this is acceptable. Also, this is one restaurant we have never tried would this be good for a 12 (boy) and 8 (girl). Thanks!

Hi,

Sure, you can order as much or as little as you want in any restaurant. Enjoy your trip!

I think it's a great choice for lunch with kids that age. We're going there for lunch this week. I have a DD who is 11 who loves this place. Our first time there she was 8 and thought it was a riot! The movie clips are really funny, not scary, and the cars you sit in are so much fun. It's dark and pretty quiet in there (people are watching the movie so there's less talking) and I think it's a great break when at the park.

We're not big eaters, either, and are staying CL, so we're planning on splitting an entree two ways. I don't think they'll hassle you if you just want an appetizer, though. We're going more for the fun of it than the food (although DD & DH are planning on splitting a milkshake -- they are really good there).

This was at the top of my DD's list for places to eat on this trip. For years we avoided it because of the bad reviews. Then a close friend told me how it was her family's favorite place and that we had to try it. Just stick to simple items (like burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes) and you'll be fine.:)

Thank you both. I have a feeling our kids will try the milkshakes too. We were on the meal plan two years ago and wasted many counter service just because we were not hungry for lunch. We all do like to eat but usually not ready for a big meal until dinner time. So we are going to try different things this time. Thanks again!

Here is their dessert menu for lunch. Our kids absolutely LOVED the Hot Fudge Sundae. We did not have the milkshakes, but they looked really good.

Desserts

Fresh Fruit Salad - $4.99

Apple Crisp Tart $5.49

Hot Fudge Sundae - vanilla ice cream with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry $4.99

Chocolate Tart with a mix of chocolate mousse, fudge and ganache $5.99

Cheesecake with caramel sauce and treats $5.49

They have really good desserts there!! Have fun!

Off topic a bit, but you can order a cheeseburger for dinner even though it isn't on the dinner menu. The bacon cheeseburger is awesome!

My boys love to eat here! Order anything you want! & Happy planning!

Oh this is the dessert I had there! It was so good! I reccomend it.

I believe you can. We did it last time we were there for dinner...in 2007.

We made Sci Fi our dessert stop during out last trip.
Delicious.

We had an early dinner and then went straight to Sci Fi for yummy stuff.
We love that restaurant.

You can always split and get an appetizer. The burgers are delicious but huge and if I hadn't had the Dining Plan I would have split with my husband.

Sci-fi for lunch is a must for us every time we are at disney.

We split a burger, onion rings and the shakes are all great but better yet.............the atmosphere!!!

We love it!!!! And my kids first choice when making our ressies is sci-fi. We do not use our dining plan for sci-fi, we pay out of pocket but you do have to have a reservation. You can't get in without it!

We have never been there either, mostly from the bad reviews...but DH and I did lunch there last month and loved the burger and the reubens, the onion rings were awesome and the boozy milkshakes were to die for!

This is the quietest TS in all of WDW, it was so relaxing!

We are having lunch here during our trip in early May. My niece specifically requested Sci-Fi (I've never been) since she saw it on the website.

So, an ADR was made and I'm hoping for some good time milkshakes and burgers to go with my drive-in! :goodvibes

Do I need to specifically request a 'car seat' or is the entire place that way?

Sci Fi is my kids most favorite place in WDW (they are now 12 and 14) . Its the one place we make an ADR at for each trip so obviously we love it! Its fine to and order just dessert there as others have said. I think your kids will love sitting in a car, the corny movie clips and the milk shakes.

If you want an appetizer I can vouch for the onion rings and the artichoke dip. Both are very tasty!

And that picture Lynn posted says a thousand words for the desserts!

This is my 19 yr old daughters favorite too! It is soooooo unique. We have been going every other year since she was 7 and this is the one restarant that she requests every time (and Le Cellier).

The burgers, onion rings and shakes are THE BEST!

Picture a drive in movie filled with cars. Some of the cars are 4 seaters, some are 6 seaters. Most are 6 seaters and if they have a family of 4, there may be another family of 2 (they call them hitch hikers, lol) in the back seat. Great way to meet other Disney lovers. The back of the theater has the Snack bar/Kitchen and they have tables with the big metal umbrella's over them. They seat 6. If you have advanced reservations, you will get a car. If a car is not available when you get there, and they have a picknic table, they will ask you if you would like that and they can seat you then or wait for a car. DEFINITELY WAIT FOR A CAR. There are very few walk ups accepted but if they have a picnic table in the back and everyone else with a reservation does not want the table, then they will accept a walk up.

I hope this helps. YA'LL WILL LOVE IT!
