I ve booked reservations for Sci Fi Diner for our Trip in Oct but have no clue what the food suppose to be like here. Basically all i ve seen is the pics of the cars with the large cinema screen in front & thought "hey that looks great fun" but thats as clued up as i am re this restaurant.

What does everyone think if the Sci Fi Diner?? Plus has anyone got any pics they d be willing to share with me??:goodvibes

Thanks everyone:cutie:

We ate there last week and in 2001 at my youngest son's request.
We had grilled chicken sandwiches and burgers. It is not an extensive menu, but the desserts were awesome.
Somewhere on this site is a list of menus I think, but I don't know where to tell you to look for it.

We like it, but there are not a ton of choices. The atmosphere is really cool.
Also, we have only been for lunches, but I am pretty sure the menu is the same at dinner. I remember they have ribs and a pasta dish as well.

Hope this helps!
Debi:)

It's your basic burgers, sandwiches, milkshake and fries type of place. I've heard more people go there for the experience more so than the food if that makes sense! :)

be sure to request a CAR-- not everyone gets them==the milkshakes are great- food just like a 'maltshop' menu-- OLD flicks on the drive in screen--have fun :goodvibes

I did nt realise that you had to request a car  . Should we of requested one when making the reservation or is it a case of when we show up that we just have to request a car??

just do it when you check in-- you may have a longer wait but it's worth it

We've had lunch at the Sci Fi theater the second time we went and the atmosphere is great! The food is good bugers and fries and shakes (but not fastfood) bottom line....... you will like it!:goodvibes

People with dining reservations get the cars. Walk ups get the tables. You should be fine but it doesn't hurt to ask when you check in.

About the Sci Fi - decent food, nothing special. It IS more about the atmosphere. A cycle of the film clips runs about 45 minutes. By the time you get seated, look over the menu, give your order and then start enjoying the films, you will have just about enough time for your meal and one cycle of the clips.

My all time absolute favorite clip is of the dancing hot dog who jumps into the bun. This is when they are enticing you like at the drive in to go to the snack bar.

They will ask you if you want a car or a table.... as above poster stated, it just may take a few more minutes... there are usually more tables available or the open quicker... But you can get a car with your ADR...

We really enjoy the Sci-Fi... As others stated, the food is simple and the menu is not large... But we actually like, simple, American-style foods... You will be upset if you were hoping for fancy... Because the food and atmosphere is not... The atmosphere is really cool.... My kids stay so quiet when we go because they love watching the old movies... It took a bit getting used to the idea that you really don't communicate much with your party when you are eating... like at the driven-in, you are there to watch the movies, not talk.... I also did not like the idea (at first) of being split up from DH because he had to sit with one child and I sat with the other... We requested a table for our first visit because it worked out better for our young family... Tables are good for a family with a baby that requires a high chair, people that don't want to sit in front/behind members of their party, and for bigger people...

We think the Sci-Fi is a place that all Disney guests should go at least once... In our case, it has been three times and the fourth visit is planned.

The last time we went it was for dinner, we usually do lunch. The hamburgers were not listed on the dinner menu but you can still order them. Just tell your server.

Have fun! It's one of our favorite restaurants!

What time do they open for lunch? We have an 11:30 ADR. Is that a good time for getting a car w/o a long wait? Also, there's 4 of us. Will we get our own car? Like the OP, I didn't realize an ADR would guarantee you a car. That's pretty cool! :cool1:

We (upon the advise of fellow dis'rs), had lunch and stayed with the 'typical' fare...We had burgers, onions rings, and milkshakes. All were very, very good and we really enjoyed the atmosphere as well. We are going back this Sept. :)

My mom and I were there in March for dinner and went with slightly different than the burger type fare. She had the butcher steak and I had the shrimp pasta. Both were very good and the atmosphere was great. We had a wonderful time and shared a car with a family of 4. I also had the Space Invader Margarita which was also quite good.

We went there for lunch with an ADR and did have to wait longer to get a car, but since the experience was the whole point of us choosing the SciFi, we were willing to wait.

I had read that as long as we stuck to pretty standard choices (burgers, fries, milkshakes) the food would be good -- actually it was great! We had a great time there and will try it again -- the movies are really funny.

I ve read that they do some pretty awesome sundaes & other fab desserts which me & my df would definatly be adding to our "must have" list of food to try.

Has anyone tried one of these ?? If so any pics at all?

I think we ll be boring & no doubt stick with Burgers so hopefully their burgers are lovely!!

They either open at 11:00 or 11:30 so you should be fine. There's not that many people yet who realize it's lunch time and will attempt to do a walk up (or they are like my in-laws and HAVE to eat exactly at noon).

Well, you aren't going to get your "own" car. The cars seat six so you will have two hitchhikers with you. Probably in the back seat. But each row of seats is two across so you won't even have to talk to your guests.

BTW - for anyone going to Sci Fi, if you have kids, it's always great fun to have them sit in the "drivers seat". THEY will be presented with the "speeding ticket" (the bill). My son was told he would have to go into the kitchen and wash dishes because he didn't have any money.
