How is it? I love blue cheese dressing, and I really love entree salads, so thes really caught my eye. Any other recommendations for dinner there?

I Love the beef and blue salad!! It is funny it is literally a 1/4 wedge of lettuce. I was laughing when I got it but I plan on ordering it again when I go this next trip:)

There is a great pic by maggiew on restaurant reviews - DDP v paying oop is the thread. It's near the top p1.

I'm different; I'd never order it again. I didn't expect a quarter wedge of iceberg lettuce.

I think there's some pieces of flank steak or some similar cut served with it, and some generic-tasting blue cheese dressing.

I second this comment. I love beef and bleu salads. A wedge of iceberg does not qualify.

The salad sounds yummy but I'd never order it because of it coming with a wedge of lettuce!

Thanks! I really appreciated seeing it. It was a little different than I'd expected-somehow I thought the beef would be mixed into the salad, kind of like chicken is when you order a chicken caesar salad. But I still think I might order it, just now I know better what to expect.

I've had it and really liked it.
And I'm super confused at all the comments about the wedge of iceberg lettuce.
Have none of you ever had a wedge salad b4?? I thought they were really common. You can get them at almost any good restaurant. :confused3

i LOVE wedge salads. i guess to each his/her own.

But that's all it was - a wedge of iceberg, some beef strips, and blue cheese dressing. Nothing else, no other veggies. I was pretty underwhelmed.

I haven't seen a wedge salad served in a "good" restaurant for 30 years and I eat a lot of salads when we dine out. I come from the land of organic greens. Iceberg lettuce has no flavor and no nutritional value. There's nothing wrong for those who want that; it's just not what I expect when I order a salad anymore.

I was thinking the exact same thing! At pretty much every fancy restaurant near me, they serve some sort of variation of the "wedge" salad. I see them at more of the trendy, modern restaurants near me in Cleveland. A few years ago when I started to see them popping up everywhere it struck me as odd, but now I love them! They are always a 1/4 head lettuce piled high with goodies.

This one is piled high with nothing. It's literally lettuce, some beef, dressing and a little bacon. I thought there might be some seasoning. But there wasn't.

Give that one a miss then (the meal not Sci Fi) - I quite like the Shrimp pasta, DH always gets the Reuben. The food is OK, nothing that special but the atmosphere can't be beat and it's usually a must do for us. It's pretty dark in there and you can't really see what you're eating anyway (maybe that's a good thing)

We were there a few weeks ago and I was debating between the Beef and Blue Salad and the Shrimp Pasta. I went with the pasta and I guess I am glad I did!
By the way, the Shrimp Pasta was excellent! I loved it. Tons of super sweet shrimp and pasta with capers, artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes in a very light, creamy white wine sauce. :goodvibes

Same here...we were at Ruth's Chris not to long ago and they most certainly had a wedge salad with blue cheese and bacon and not much else if I remember correctly. Actually, I love eating at Cotton Patch cafe for their (cheap but tasty) wedge salads.

I'm pretty sure location plays a factor here...left coast cuisine vs everywhere else.

Here in Dallas/Ft Worth, we have many good steakhouses that serve a wedge salad...Del Frisco's, Ruth's Chris, and Silver Fox are three I can name right from memory. I don't know your definition of "good," but I consider a place that serves prime beef at $30 a cut (minimum) a "good restaurant."

I know iceberg is literally the nothing of the lettuce world, I don't want it in any of my other salads. But a wedge salad is just something unique in itself, and the iceberg is just something crunchy to carry the flavorful house dressing, blue cheese crumbles, and bacon into your mouth. It doesn't have to be nutritious, it just has to be tasty. :thumbsup2

My DH and I both ordered this last trip, we felt like a 'lighter' lunch. We were both happy with it and would order it again.
Several of our resturants here offer a wedge salad- my DH will only eat iceberg lettuce so he is very happy to find it!

Was just there last week and ordered this. I couldnt believe how delish it was! There was plenty of steak, cooked perfectly and very tender. The dressing was great too.

Also wanted to mention that an iceberg wedge is very popular in steak houses nad this is their delicious spin on it.

This sounds like what they really offer is a wedge salad, which is perfectly fine if that's what's advertised. But typically, at least in my experience, a beef and blue is a larger salad of mixed greens, flank or skirt steak and real crumbled blue cheese with the dressing varying by restaurant. If I ordered a beef and blue and got a wedge salad I would be disappointed. Not that I don't like them but it's a totally different animal. But if the menu description is accurate then I guess it's just maybe the title that's confusing?
