We are a party of three and plan to go to Sci-Fi. Does that mean one member of our party will need to sit alone in a row or are there also car configurations that are suitable for three adults?

If you want to be in a traditional car then yes one of you will sit "alone".
Its like on rides.
I've done it and IMO its no big deal.
There are also some picnic tables and some cars that have tables/chairs but that's usually reserved for parties of 6.

You can get a traditional table where everyone faces each other but it wouldn’t be worth the extra 40 min wait (they are usually running behind and their quoted time is not exaggerated).

When we have gone as a party of 5, 1 person does have to sit alone. Even kids quiet down so it’s nice and relaxing. You can take turns sitting with the kids. The seats are close so you can still communicate.

Car rows seat 2 people so 1 member of your party will sit in a row alone. It's really nbd, it's a dark restaurant where everyone is watching the big screen anyway so there is very little talking.

Thanks everyone. Was just chatting with a CM and they informed me I can come by earlier in the day before the reservation time and request a 2 row car. What is the go-to meal there?

If you did a chat online or phone call, take that with grain of salt. There are maybe 5 cars with 2 rows. We’ve been going to Sci Fi as parties of 2 or 4 since the early 90s. We’ve been in a 2 row car exactly twice. Both of those times we were only 2 & had another party of 2 in the car.

It really is no big deal to be in a car with other parties. Everyone is facing towards the screen, you’re not facing each other. If they’re behind you, they’ll see your head, you won’t see them at all. Again, all the times we’ve eaten there, we’ve had almost no conversations with other people in the car. You don’t have to acknowledge them & it’s not rude. I’ve been more uncomfortable at Le Cellier where the tables are about 5 inches part & people are squeezing in & out past the table.

There are VERY few cars with 2 rows. Most are three. There are a few table cars = regular table seating with bookend car hood and trunk. They usually sit larger parties there. There are picnic tables for 4 in the back they mostly use for walk ups. SEE PHOTO BELOW>

I have eaten there regularly since it opened. We have shared a car every single time except when we were the big party and took up two full cars. Seats hold 2 adults.

As a party of two often, we have been seated at front most times and party of four behind us. A few times it was three parties of 2. Once we had middle seat and that was undesirable for us. A few times we sat in last seat as hitchhikers.

It is popular and they will seat you as densely as they need based on staffing. We have seen folks request their reservations combined and then they were sat in three cars one next to the other. I would say you have a 50/50 shot at getting anything you request ~ so be ready to not get what you want.

Food wise we have tried new things but always come back to burgers or a standard sandwich like they used to have a good reuben. I've enjoyed the wedge salad when they had it. It really is about the atmosphere ~ probably the highest themed restaurant at WDW. A manager told me the whole design is what the view was out of Walt's office in CA. Who knows but it is a cool spot. Worth trying once.

We go every trip. My husband loves the old ridiculous movies (we are old, so they are even more fun).

They had some favorite pasta dishes (salmon one to die for but now gone) but I noticed a few weeks ago, the pasta choices were gone.
I had a cheeseburger there for the very first time (have been to SciFi maybe 10 times or so) and was shocked to enjoy it so much. I'm not a huge cheeseburger fan but definitely would order it again. Liked it a lot. Very generous fries.

I dine there often and since I’m usually solo I’m always your hitchhiker. Honestly, as a child of the ‘50’s it’s lovely to sit back and bask in the nostalgia. Truth be told, you’ll hardly notice I’m even there LOL

I loved that salmon pasta too, had it several times. I’ve had the salad with chicken the last few trips which was very good also.

I actually love this salad, too… though I ask them to substitute blue cheese dressing for the vinaigrette… which really negates the whole idea of eating “salad” as a healthy option! LOL

Reading this thread has me chomping at the bit for our next visit, which is not until MAY!! ARRRRGGG! That is forever away. Upside we are taking the Grandkids in November as well, soooooo SciFi in May and November!

Anyone remember the old days where you had to run up to a guest relations booth to make dining reservations for the day? It was a free-for-all. I think the new reservation system is better in that respect.

We had lunch there a few years ago when the place next door (don't recall the name) was closed for renovation and there aren't many choices where to eat in that area of the park. We sat at one of regular tables at the back, since we thought it would be clumsy having a conversation by looking at the back of the heads of others in our group. Food was just OK for lunch, nothing special and don't know if the dinner menu is different.

If you are younger than 50, the shot video clips of older TV shows/Sci-Fi movies won't mean much to you. Inside was rather dark and placed seemed like it was a time for refresh. To us it was a one-and-done experience. Have no idea what it seems so wildly popular with people on here.

So we finally scored a reservation for this weekend there for 4 of us. Couple of questions

-Are you guaranteed to have your own car or are you seated with others?
-do they sing happy birthday there (my sons birthday)

We have never had to share a car on several trips over the years. However, if it is really crowded, I can see them doing this. I don't think they would sing at all due to the fact that there are movies playing for everyone to enjoy.

I’m right there with you! Dad made popcorn on the stove, we got in our pajamas, grabbed some pillows and blankets and piled into the back of the old Henry J… good memories… yes, I’m old LOL

My parents put a baby crib mattress over the backseat so "no floor". Ours were double features, family movie first and then more grownup movie. We would watch our movie with snacks and then had to lay down in pjs and blankets while they watched their movie. Good old days.

The wedge salad is back as of now. And the chicken salad sandwich was good if you don’t want a burger. The stack burger was better than the regular burger. Go to Baseline before you go there and have a pint or 2 and the food will taste much better and the movies will be fabulous.
