Okay, so we are trying to get ADR's. I have ADR's for everything I wanted but this. I will keep trying. I lucked out with LTT, and an opening came open for the day we wanted it for exactly the time we wanted. I just had to call back a few times.

So, In case we can't get it, how bad is it to get in for dinner around 6:00? I know there is a wait, but do they keep a certain percentage open for walk ins?

:wizard: Can you possibly get a lunch ADR instead of a dinner? When we were there in Nov 07 we saw alot of people turned away w/o ressies. Ya never know you could get lucky.
On our last trip we couldn't get a dinner ressie so we did a lunch there instead. Worked out great for us.

We were there in Oct and my kids were idsappointed that we didnt eat there that trip so on our last day we were leaving after lunch...we decided to grab a quick lunch there. The earliest they could get us in was 1 pm the next day...So I would not try it thinking I could get it if I knew this was something I more than likely plan to do. Go ahead and make you an ADR and cancel it if you decide not to go.

Even with an ADR for lunch we had a long wait at the SciFi, probably the longest wait of our whole trip. I dont think that the restaurant has a large capacity. Personally, I wouldn't go near the place without an ADR, but who knows? You might get lucky.

Good luck!:wizard:

I was told at the check-in podium that the table cars are saved for walk-ins. But there was a 45 minute wait during lunch in the slow season. So I wouldn't be surprised if many walk-ins get turned away.

I'd suggest you try to make an ADR for mid-afternoon. Just order some milkshakes and onion rings. Treat it like an attraction with snacks. It makes a nice mid-day break.

Hi, When we went to WDW last April during our Spring break we were walking by Sci-Fi one night at about 8:30 and my DS commented on wanting to eat there. So I went inside to the podium and asked (thinking NO WAY too late)but the CM said sure! :wizard: We waited a few minutes and were seated (3 of us).My DS had his burger and fries(not on the menu for dinner time)my husband had the ribs(LOVED them!)he was going to SHARE but he ate them all before I had a chance to ask for one! I had an appetizer and adult drink. The reason why I remember it so well was our waitress was FANTASTIC! You would have thought we were her fisrt customers of the day instead of the last. She told us all about working for WDW and how this was her second internship and how muched she loved it.She chatted so much with us we were the LAST ones to leave the restaurant. We had been to Sci-Fi many times before but this CM just made this night stand out in my mind. So you NEVER know :confused3 I guess we just got luckey that night! Joan

Well... I got an early lunch meal for one day. I tried last night and couldn't get lunch or dinner until LATE. So I tried again this morning and got an early lunch at 11:15. I will probably keep calling to see if I can luck out and get a dinner one for the other night I am looking at though. Mainly because the day I got the Lunch one, I lucked out yesterday and got a 6:00 LTT one, so Having a big lunch and a big dinner on the same day is not what I really want to do.

The day I am looking at for dinner, the earliest is 9:30. YIKES. :scared1:

But, the same could be said for LTT last week - 8:45 anyway, and that worked out, so maybe I can switch.

After reading everyones responses I definitely don't want to try walk in during the last week of May. Crowds are starting to really pick up at that time.

This is one of the few places that I feel is just as good for lunch as it is dinner, so what about a late lunch? This may help to aleviate the dissapointment of being turned away as a walk up for dinner. I have never seen them takeing walk ups for dinner when I was there (although I have only eaten there 3 times).

I would just keep trying. Even if you have arrived in WDW call before you walk out of your room in the morning. And if still no luck I would go to guest serivces on the day you are in the park and ask. Hey it don't hurt to ask right.

When we go this is the place we always wait the longest for. Last Sept we waited over 45 min. for our table. Also everyone that walked in w/out an ADR was turned away. This is when my cousin finally realized I wasn't nuts for planning out all our ADR's at our 180 mark.

I would make a back up plan just incase and cancel it if you get in. Good Luck!

We did this in November 2007. We stopped in at guest sservices in DHS and asked about lunch. They had one lunch reservation left so we took it.
