Has anyone eaten at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater with a toddler? I have never been there, but hear its really neat. A friend recently went with their 5 year old daughter, but they said that she was scared. We were thinking of going with our daughter, who will be almost 3. It doesn't seem like something that she would be scared of, but again, I have never been. Thought I'd get your opinions. Thanks!

We took our older DD when she was 2 and she LOVED it! The only scary thing about it may be that it's a little dark but not to the point that you can't see anything! My DD never appeared to be scared. I say go for it! It is a neat restaurant. Some may argue about their food though!

This isn't one I was considering for our DD (almost 2 when we go in Jan) for our next trip, due to the seating arrangements. I seem to recall the cars were raised slightly - do they have high chairs? Would we have to sit at a table if we wanted to use one?

Thanks,
Mur!

Sorry I can't help you much on this one. My DD was actually 20 months when we went that time and she was not interested in high chairs...just boosters. However, I don't recall being that high up though. Sorry...I just can't remember. Maybe someone else can help?!:D

When I made my PS, I was told that you can't have a highchair at the cars. We would need to sit at a table. I thought that kind of defeated the whole point of eating there so we will take our chances with DS (15 months and not walking) sitting in a booth. As far as the food, I heard that if you stick with hamburgers and shakes, it's fine so we're having lunch there.

Last aug we ate at Sci-fi with our 18 month old DS. We sat in one of the cars. It isn't like a regular booth. It was actually easier than a regular booth. One thing to keep in mind is you eating area is small so little hands are able to grab everything. I would stick with meals that are quick, easy, and not too messy. Burgers work the best, that way you can enjoy the atmosphere with out worrying about knifes and messy little fingers in your food. Also get a glow in the dark drink. It is great for little ones!
I really can't think of much being scary. The lights are low. They show old sci-fi clips but I don't remember any being very scary. My ds loved it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

We ate at Sci-Fi with our then 23-month old dd. She was still using a highchair and would have been all over place in a booster. They gave us a highchair to use - it was a plastic one with its own tray and was on wheels (not the usual wooden one) and we pulled it up next to the car. You needed the tray on the highchair as there is not really a table space for the child to use. That was the only somewhat awkward part - you are eating facing ahead (toward the front of the car and the movie screen) and the child ends up perpendicular to you without much of a view of the screen. Now our dd didn't really care about the movie but some kids might.

Our dd was not at all afraid but a slightly older toddler might be just because they are more aware etc. The movies they show clips from are mostly older Godzilla-type movies - not really scary but might seem so to some small kids.

We have definitely found that sticking with burgers and shakes is the way to go at Sci-Fi - anything "exotic" seems out of their range.

Have a great trip!
