I need to make some ADR's for my trip coming up at the end of March. We have never eaten at any of the restaurants at Disney except for counter service. We are doing the dining plan this trip and are excited about eating at all the table service places. My dh loves sci-fi stuff so I thought it would be a fun place to eat. I have seen some bad reviews of it though and it seems as if there isn't much sci-fi about it. Does anyone recommend it or have a better choice?

We ate there for the first time in December and really enjoyed it. The food was good. We had burgers/fries and hot fudge sundaes for dessert. My girls sat in the front seat and DH and I sat in the back. They show clips of sci-fi "B" movies. We had a great experience and would definitely do it again.

I always suggest a trip to the Sci - Fi. It's so fun and relaxed.

I do think you should go for lunch, as the prices are better, and the food is more "classic" (you can't go wrong with a burger and fries and maybe a shake).

We enjoyed it far more than Mama Melrose, and the cast members were far nicer than at Brown Derby.

(For reference, I've been there 3 times, my age is 25 and my boyfriend (29) also has a great time there.)

I personally like 50's Prime Time better that Sci-fi. I thought the food at sci-fi was average and the seating is a little uncomfortable. The atmosphere is okay. I am also a sci-fi buff but I did'nt enjoy it all that much. All the clips on the movie screen are from really old "b" movies and there seemed to be more snack commercials that sci-fi clips. Plus, since you sit side-by-side it made it a little difficult to have a conversations.

Just my 2 cents!

although there's not much of anything 'sci-fi' to it, the atmosphere is cool. you're at a drive-in movie watching crazy clips from old sci-fi movies. the food is OK, not great. we do lunch and just have sandwiches. but it's fun to sit in a car and watch the show.

My girls and I really enjoy it and have eaten there three times. You sit in a "car" to eat and watch very silly old clips/trailers from old sci-fi movies, which is very entertaining. The food was good, too (only had burgers and fries).

Is Sci Fi worth wasting a Table credit on??? I have it on my ADR list, but I'm wondering if it is worth using a credit for dinner

Sci-Fi is a must-do for us. We love the drive-in seating and atmosphere. The burgers and reuben are very good as are the milkshakes. I've only been for lunch and stuck to the basics but that is because I'm a basic type person.

We are family of 6- 4 kids ages 4-8 and then DH and I. Can we all fit in 1 car or will we be really crowded? my 2 younger kids need help eating so i hate to be divided in 2 cars but not sure how this would work or if anyone else has been seated there with 6??

Sci Fi seems to be one of those the people really like or really don't. It's definitely fun and worth a try to see which group you're in. We enjoy Sci Fi alot. It's a drive in theater which plays the old sci fi movies on the big screen. It was one of our sons favorites when they used to come with us and we recently took my niece and she loved it too.

Sci-Fi is a no-go for us. We tried it twice, just to make sure the first night wasn't just an "off" night, but the food is only so-so, and the service was very slow. Both times, our CM needed a good shot of pixie dust! The atmosphere is very cool, and the milkshakes are to die for, but overall, my gang gave it a score of 4 on a scale of 1-10. :confused3

I believe that some of the cars have three rows, so that they would seat 6, but perhaps someone who has eaten there with a larger group (I've only gone as a group of 4) could tell you for sure.

Sci-Fi is one of our favorite places, for the fun, not necessarily the food. We've been there every trip with the kids (6x). I agree with some of the previous posters--go for lunch, rather than dinner. The burgers are pretty good and cheaper than the dinner menu. The milkshakes were bottomless (if I remember right) and they have glowing ice cubes, for extra $$, that our kids just loved! The servers sometimes have fun with it--we remember one guy always starts screaming when one particular movie is playing! Kinda funny.

Keep in mind, not everyone gets a car--make sure you request one when you make your ADR. They have tables against the back wall behind all of the cars at the drive-in. Also, we have been in a 3--seater every time for 6 people, but I think there are 4 passenger cars, too. Have fun! :cool1:

Sci-Fi is definitely a no for us as well. We tried to do dinner once, but just didn't enjoy it. The dinner menu is very hard to work with when you have a pciky eater like my husband, and I had catfish, which was just terrible. We loved the 50's Prime Time Cafe though. I would say if you do want to try sci-fi just to check it out, hop in for a late dessert. Hard to mess up sundaes, and it's cheaper than a whole dinner, and you won't waste a TS credit.

Also, we went with six people, sat in a car, it's two per seat, all people are facing forward, like in a drive-in, so the people in the back seat cannot possibly talk to the people in the front seat.

It's a fun place. The atmosphere is great. The kids can get great milkshakes or soda drinks in a souvenair cup with a light-up cube in it. It's cool to see all the glasses glowing the color of the light up cube (which are totally safe to be in drinks).

I always go at lunch-time when it's a bit cheaper.

Now about the food - I love the burger and fries but the last few times I've felt ill afterwards. Maybe too much fry, too much beef. So if I go again I'm going to try something much lighter like a salad or appetizers. But don't quote me it just might mean I've reached the age to eat a whole lot lighter! :rotfl:

The movies are corny but it's adds to the experience. I say try it once!

Never been to Prime Time but heard lots of great things about that, too.

Enjoy your trip!! Ely

I've never been there but I always hear the same thing - Great atmosphere, average food.
