Can anyone tell me if the movie clips they show are creepy/scary or silly/funny? Also, how dark is it inside? If I can prove/convince my DS that it isn't too dark and the movies are not scary, I may be able to go. He's a very cautious kid, but I want him to try new experiences. He's 8.

Thanks.

They're silly old scifi trailers like the Blob and Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, plus some cartoons. I can't imagine that any 8 year old would be afraid of them.

At least two of the movie trailers were were movies that were on MST3K. I thought it was great. My 12 and 9 year old thought they were weird, but nobody was scared. We also saw a Tom & Jerry cartoon.

Thanks everyone! I think he will be fine!

He will definitely be fine. My ds went when he was still 4 and he's a VERY cautious kid. It was one of his favorite places of all. And it really isn't dark in there per se; it's only dark enough to see the movie. You can still see your food.

Big MST3K fan here!!!! Just introduced it to my DD 10 last month. I can't remember the movie, but JOEL and MIKE were both in it :)

I think a wonderful way to get your kids excited about SCI FI CAFE--have them watch MONSTERS vs ALIENS before the trip. Lots of the campy critters in the trailers are featured. Bob (the blob), Suzie (50 ft woman), etc.

Good times :)
Can't wait til we get there in September!

Oh he LOVES Monsters Vs. Aliens! Now I know he'll be fine. I also showed him some pictures on line and he said that it looks cool! Finally, another option for us at HS!!!!

Thank you, everyone!

My ydd was terrified to go in there last year. She thought it would be scary. She loved the movies and the theme when we got in there. This year, it is the only restaurant she wants to return to. HAve fun!

We will be eating there for the first time in September (my DH has eaten there before as a teenager and loved it). We have a 9 and 7 yr olds (at the time of the vacation) girls and we had steered clear of this restaurant because old movies like that had always creeped them out. Well this time, I was determined to eat there since I have been wanting to so for a while now. We believe the kids are old enough because they laugh at silly things like that anyways at home, plus we too want them to try out new things. I am very excited to be eating here for lunch :goodvibes.
