I have ADR for lunch at Sci-Fi and when I requested to sit in a car I was told that had to be done when we check in for lunch. I had heard elsewhere that you could request a car over the phone when making ADR. Can anyone tell me if I should call back and speak to someone different. The whole reason for eating there is so the kids can sit in the car.

Thanks,

Ive been there a few times and all "tables" are cars... 3 rows seating 2 persons in each row.

Unless something changed in the recent upgrade/renovation, of course.

There's no need to request a car in advance. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask at the podium. The overwhelming majority of the seating is in cars, and they put you in a car unless you have special needs or request not to have one. With kids they would make a special effort to not only make sure you have a car but to let the kids "drive" (sit in the front).

I'd say 80% of their seating is cars, either the "4 seater" (2 rows), the "6 seater"(3 rows) or the ones that look like a car but actually have a table with chairs. There are some picnic tables and tables with benches and umbrellas in the back by the wall for I guess special needs patrons like wheel chairs or strollers. We have always requested and always received a "car" for all of our visits. Make sure to let the kids sit up front so they can see the screen!

When we went to Sci Fi, when I checked in at the Podium I said,"We would like to sit in a car and would be willing to wait for one." She said, if you have a PS, you will get a car. The tables are mostly reserved for the walk ups.

I don't know how true it is, but that is what she said.

Yes, you need to request that at the restaurant to ensure you get a car. I've never NOT been seated in a car, actually. My understanding was the tables were for those with high chairs or wheelchairs, those who requested them instead of cars (there are people who don't want to be in a car), or overflow seating.

I would think 80% - 90% of seating is in the cars. Just verify at checkin.

I went there in April and when you get there at the counter just request a car, sometimes you wait longer, but its worth it!
Also there are picnic tables along the wall, so you do need to ask.

We have been to Sci Fi many times always seated in a car except once. We decided to go at the last minute had no ADR. When we went to the podium they said they could seat us now if we wanted a table instead of a car or we could wait for a car.

I have an ADR but I will be sure to ask when we check in.
Thanks,
Kimba
