Sci Fi Availability?

Just planned a sort-of last minute trip with DD19 to enjoy some Disney holiday magic. I would love to take her to Sci Fi on our DHS day. Took her when she was little, and she has no memory of it. She has a great sense of humor, so I think she would get a kick out of it! I've been checking for availability on Dec.14th for the last few days, but not having having any luck. Do you think they might release more times as we get closer? Do they ever take walk-ups? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Try the Touring Plans Reservation Finder. You can set it up so it alerts you if a reservation becomes available.

Walk-ins are very unlikely at Sci-Fi. I'm sure someone will come along and assure you that they were able to walk up on a rainy day in February one time, but realistically, it's by far the exception that is able to obtain a walk-up there.

I'd just keep checking, as people do cancel as you get closer. Hubby and I took a very last-minute trip back in early March, and booked some of our dining reservations 7-10 days out (we ate at Sci Fi and I think that was one of the ones I got a week or so beforehand) and we booked some of them the day before we ate there once we were at WDW. Some of the day before ressies we got were BOG, Le Cellier, and California Grill, so even with some of the places that are harder to get into, people will change their minds and cancel a day or two before. I'd probably book a back up restaurant in case nothing opens up, but I think your chances are pretty good.

Despite the fact that lots of people on the Dis don't like Sci Fi, it is a very popular restaurant. I pretty much book it at 180 days to make sure we get the day & time we want. Sorry you aren't having luck with an ADR. Try looking at the December cancelled thread here in addition to Touring Plans ADR finder as was already suggested. Can't hurt to try for a walk up on the day of too. But I would get there early, before 11:30. And just so you know, most reports are that walk ups are seated at the round picnic tables in the back of the rooom, not in a car.

Good luck!

Edit to add: good advice from PP about checking the day before. Since Disney started charging for no shows, many people are getting good ADRs the night before.

She may enjoy the Prime Time Cafe or Whispering Canyon Cafe. The servers there are (usually) amusing. At Prime Time they act like you're at you're relatives house in the 50's for a meal, and everything that entails.

As the time gets closer to your desired ADR, other people will finalise their plans and make lots of cancellations. We have managed to get what we wanted at Garden Grill and 1900 Park Fare last year, just a few days beforehand. It's always good to have a back up plan though just in case.

Thanks for all the replies! I've never tried the Touring Plans ADR finder, but will definitely check it out!
