I just placed my first order. Do you tip the delivery person?

I order from Schwans every two weeks. I have never tipped him. He makes commission off of everything you buy. Not sure if they are allowed tips.

Went to the schwans site:
Should I tip my Schwan's representative?
A simple "thank you" is always appreciated. Your continuing business with Schwan's also tells us that you appreciate us. Your Schwan's representative does not accept monetary tips

Thank you for doing my work.

I've never ordered from them. What type of things do you like?

Right now if you are New to Schwan's they are giving you $10 free towards your first purchase and there is no Monitary requirement so if you buy something under 10 dollars you get it for free.

I think that is a great promotion since I couldn't just buy only 10 dollars worth so they made money off of me!

I order vegetables, chicken breasts, ground beef, ice cream, chicken quesadillas, steaks, etc. Most of the items are great, there are a few I don't like, but isn't that the case with most things?

I nevr do, but gave our driver had dinner with us once. A terrible storm came and the driver was kinda stuck with us for over an hour, I said have a seat you might as well have dinner with us while we wait out the storm! She has been our regular person for over 8 years, we know her pretty well now.

DH and I are considering using Schwanns.....so there is no minimum order amount right?

mmmm. I love their pretzels with cream cheese!! yummy!!! That and their birthday cake ice cream. Thats all I've ever ordered from them.

No, there is no minimum amount and they are not allowed to accept tips so don't bother.

Schwan's is still a family owned company based in SW MN started by Marvin Schwan who's parents owned a local dairy. He found that the farmers in the area never bought ice cream because it would melt on the way home so he figured out a way to bring the ice cream to them and turned the company into a multi-BILLION dollar international company. His children still own the company today and it is still headquartered in the small MN town where he grew up. It is a great American success story. Marvin was a very, very generous man and never wanted recognition for what he did.

My Driver always graciously accepted a $10 tip and so did the 2 after him before I stopped ordering. I've talked to a few friends who also order(ed) from Schwans and they tip(ped) as well. So while it may be"against the rules" some driver do accept a tip.

That is probably why you have been through 3 drivers-they are not supposed to accept tips and can get fired if they do. They are very well paid for their job-starting pay around our area is in the $50K range plus commission and bonus money.
