SCHOOLS OUT!!! May 23, 2010 Wonder Cruise

Hi fellow Canadian .We will be sailing away with all of you on May 23 as well .I have read all the messages and it took a while to discover what FE was .I have been on 4 other cruises but never Disney and I have never seen it of heard of it but it sounds great .My girls 7and 5 would love this .Their own treasure hunt .
If you go ahead with this we would love to join .My husband myself(Mom) and the 2 girls . I'm not so creative with this Fe you put outside your door .So if anyone has the break down of how all this takes place and if it is daily or only once during our cruise or some sort of idea for the none sewer what to use all ideas appreciated .

Hi bobbyclobber :welcome: to our May 23 cruise meet thread. I responded to your PM a short while ago. Hope I was able to answer your questions.

Curious what other ships you have cruised on. We are a Disney family and tend to gravitate to Disney for the vast majority of our vacation time. I am guessing that all of you are going to LOVE your Disney cruise. :lovestruc

I have added your family information to both the roll-call and FE summaries on post #'s 69 & 70 (page 5). As for the fish extender, you make your own and hang it on the pewter fish that is on the wall outside your stateroom door. Others who have joined the FE exchange will leave their treasures for you. As far as what you would like to leave for others in the group ... there are really no rules. You can give however you wish. You can give one gift for the whole cruise, you can give one per cabin, or one per person. Gifts can be made or bought. Each family may choose what they wish to do. Of course, the minimum is to give at least one gift per family. Shouldn't cause stress for anyone. It's just a fun thing to find something in your FE as you return to your room.

TIP: You may want to consider bringing a zip-tie to secure your FE to the pewter fish ... there have been occassions where they have been known to "swim away".:sad2:

There are two links that I added to the bottom of post #70 which may help get your FE gift imagination juices flowing

Also, here is a link to directions on how to make a no-sew FE...

Hi Wendy ,
We have done 2 one week cruises before kids Carnival and Norwegian .Since the kids were born we have spent all our vacations in Florida for 4 or 5 days on site as well on to a Princess cruise and another on Carnival each were short cruises. Wanted to check out the cruise experience before we spent with Disney We also traveled with another family on these . Cost was always an issue .This time our friends are not coming and they are so envious .This is our first Disney cruise we will be spending time at WdW on AKV and SSR .We arrive in Florida on the 17 of May then after the cruise it is off to the beach until June 1. What a life!!!:cool1:We are looking at the European cruise next year and it might be Disney. We will see .

Hi Brenda
Work is done for another day! Half day tomorrow and then the break I really look forward to each week. It was an extremely beautiful day here in southern Ontario ... close to 20 degrees celcius (about 68 degrees fahrenheit). Broke the record for this day:sunny:
You have really tried a number of other cruise lines ... should be interesting to see how you feel Disney compares. My mom, son and I have been vacationing with Disney since he was young. I guess it has provided the perfect blend of family fun, something for everyone and a feeling of security. I have to admit that other reports of cruise lines with less expensive price tags has sounded appealing, but our final decision always takes us back to Disney.
We are flying into Orlando the day before our cruise departs and spending two nights after at the Polynesian ... just can't be that close to the world without spending some time enjoying the magic. We have visited WDW many times, but never stayed at the Polynesian. We are looking forward to watching Wishes from the beach and having a pineapple dole whip
Not sure about next year ... maybe 7-night Eastern Caribbean??? We would really love to see those beautiful islands that come straight up out of the ocean. You're right ... what a life :thumbsup2

I hope there can be a DIS meeting sometime on board,so we all have a chance to meet up!

Hi hchik05 and LotsaMickey
You both mention meeting up on board. A while ago I mentioned we could also consider a quick DIS group meet before the safety drill on embarkation day. I could bring some extra copies of our FE distribution list for those missing their copy. I think the idea got lost in the shuffle. I'm in if anyone else is interested.:woohoo:

As I said I am sure a few times before when I talked to you,I am totally in! I think it would be a great idea,to meet everyone,as well as let each other know of any changes,if there are any,to the FE list.

Let me know when and where, and I will be there!...Unless I can't find it LOL

Sign us up for fish extenders!

It's my DM, DF, myself (21) and my sister (20). We don't have a stateroom number yet.

Getting excited, May is beginning to creep up on us...

Hi tink576 :welcome: to our May 23 cruise meet! I have added your information to the roll-call and FE exchange summaries on page 5 (post #'s 69 & 70). Please either post or PM me your cabin # when it is assigned and I will update the FE summary.

We are putting together a quick DIS group meet before the safety drill on embarkation day ... it should be fun to meet the others on this cruise meet thread and put faces to names. It will also provide a last minute opportunity to add any missed/changed information to our FE summary. Hope your group will join us :flower3:

Only 63 days until our cruise sets sail!

And ... I just want to share this because I am soooo excited this morning ... my mom and I participated in the Give a Day, Get a Day program and this morning I received the email containing a link to print our free ticket vouchers!!! :yay::woohoo::cool1: EPCOT here we come!

Have a great day :goodvibes

Lucky! I tried to,but by the time I went to sign up,they had shut it down because they had hit 1 million volunteers!
We will still be spending one day at Disney, just not sure if it will be the 27th or 28th yet....

I'm in Wendy. Just let me know.

Hi Everyone
Looks like there is gathering interest in an onboard cruise meet for our DIS group. Anyone got ideas on timing and/or location? The safety drill is at 4:00, so I was thinking about a meet and greet sometime around 2:45 or 3:00??? As for location, maybe by the drink station on deck 9??? What do you all think?

On past cruises, we've done 3:00 at the Promenade Lounge (deck 3 midship)...There's normally nobody else there at that time which makes it easy...but anywhere works for me

The Dunphy's can't wait to met everyone . Wherever and whenever !! I have no where else to be but hang with all my new friends from all over . How great is this :rotfl2:.Keep us up to date.
I have mentioned this roll call and Fe to friends who are (to bad for them) not joining us on the cruise they think this is the best thing ever .We are all about having fun and it sounds like we have a few here who might be as well .

For those who have done the ports before any suggestions on a day in Nassau. We were thinking Blue Lagoon any comments to this all opinions welcome . Not interested in spending the money in Atlantis .Way too much for a day and the kids may not be up for the extreme water sports .

How many Days ??? So excited :rotfl:

We are in too Wendy! I am excited....Just let us know when and where, and we will hopefully find it LOL

Our flight is due to land at MCO at 10:30am
Then we are taking the Disney shuttle to the port,,,they haven't sent me anything saying what time the shuttle will pick us up as of yet,,I may call to find out,but I can only assume they will get us to the port by noonish? Anyone know anything about this?

Also, since this is our first cruise, can anyone tell me,I see pictures of people on deck and ports, and they have a lanyard around their necks with the key to the world card attached,,,do they give those out on board,or is that something we should buy? Anyone do the pin trading either?

I also tell everyone about the FE and meeting up with people on board.
I am so excited to meet new people!
Hope we can all have some fun on board together!

Also,,we are not doing anything as of yet in Nassau, the one thing we wanted to do(sealion encounter) is booked up,,,we were going to do the blue lagoon thing, but when I called about more details,EVERYTHING you do once you get to that beach, costs extra, and I figure, why pay $70 per person to just sit....think we may walk around, see some sights on our own, then hang out on the ship!

Anyone who has done this before and has any ideas of good places to check out at that port, please let me know!

Thanks!
63 days!!!

They only give lanyards for the key to the world card if you are a return Disney cruiser...There is pin trading with officers, some cast members and the staff in the merchandise shops. Personally I love to pin trade on the ship although there are not enough staff involved (in comparison to the parks where the majority of the staff have lanyards with pins to trade)... hope this helps!

Hi Brenda
The last time we stopped at Nassau was the first time we had been off of mainland North America. We really weren't sure if we were going to get off the ship. However, once we neared the port and could see Atlantis towering in front of us there was no way we were staying on the ship. We splurged (big time) and booked the Aquaventure at Atlantis. Was it really expensive...you bet; do I regret it...not in the slightest. We had a great day, felt safe and have wonderful memories. This time, we have decided to do the Blue Lagoon Beach Day. I would not really consider ourselves "beach bums", but we have read a number of reviews and both the boat ride over to the island, and the island itself sound wonderful ... a slice of paradise. We did a dolphin encounter in Cozumel and had an unbelievably great day, so we are passing on that. This time we are just looking for relaxation, relaxation, relaxation...just give me a palm tree, hammock, and a good book...lol!

Oh, and the countdown is now 63 days until our cruise sets sail :cool1:

Hi, I've been looking at the thread this weekend and trying to decide what we were wanting to do in regards to the FE/DIS meeting -- husband is like whatever, so I say "Let's Do It!!" -- we are all really excited -- okay so maybe not ALL -- Rusty (4 son) and I(Steph) -- Art(husband) and Lauren(15 daughter) are not as excited, but they are both like it is too far away yet to get too excited! We are ready for our first real family vacation -- never flew for vacation before as a family -- just usually do the Branson thing or something. So, this is a big deal for us. Below is our info for the FE list. We are up for meeting wherever you all say to meet and whatever time. We are coming in 2 days early and doing the Sea World thing -- should be fun -- Lauren got to chose the park since it was her brother that wanted the "Mickey Boat" cruise. I think this will be good for us since we have such a wide range in kid's ages. Anyone have any teenagers around her age going to be on the boat? Anyways, we are doing the Blackbeard's Cay Stingray & Beach Adventure -- seem interesting and not bad priced. Husband and Daughter are Parasailing at Castaway Cay. Sorry to go on and on!!! Just really excited about all of this -- my sister in law has been on 2 DIS Cruises and loved them -- already scheduled here 3rd.

Question -- she said to get the pins to trade -- won some on eBay to take, but from the last few posts -- do we need to bring our own Lanyards? Since, this is our first cruise.

Cabin #6581, MickeyBoatHereWeCome, 2 adults, 2 kids (girl - 15, boy - 4)

Let me know if you need anything else for the FE!

Thanks! Stephanie -- only 63 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!

You can buy lanyards on the ship if you are first time cruisers...they are like $12 I believe...There are a whole bunch to choose from, different characters an what not...

The lanyards they give out are based on your cruise level status (if you have taken 1-5 previous cruises with Disney you are Silver, 6-10 gold, 11+ platinum). Those lanyards are just the color of your status and say castaway cay club gold (or something like that I don't have my old one to look at right now). Not necessarily stunning or fun looking, but they fulfill their purpose. There are also different stateroom gifts based on your status and other small perks.
