It is so cold it has dropped out on our thermometer! (Just kidding)....
With windchill we are looking at minus 50. Oh how I wish for our summers of 28 and up (in farenheit that is 80s right?)...

My dd5 is in the Louis Riel School Division and I think classes are still on there or at least it's not showing on the CJOB cancellation list yet. I just phoned my nanny and told them to stay in today so she can avoid taking my dd2 and her ds2 out in the cold. They can stay in and watch movies. I'm at work, dreaming of Florida.

Stay warm!!!

Makes our -18 in the GTA seem balmy.
As usual on a cold or stormy day GO transit is all messed up. Canceled trains, platforms packed full of frustrated commuters. DW and some friends gave up on waiting for the GO train and drove downtown today.

Stay warm out west folks.

We are trying to keep the plumbing stack from freezing again and the water pipes from doing the same and bursting (happened one year ago!)....

Here in NE Alberta we had our cold snap before Christmas, but not cold enough to close the schools. This week we have just had snow, lots and lots of snow. At least it seems like a lot when I'm shoveling it!

We are in Winnipeg...and yep..school IS open for ds...lucky he gets a ride or I would have told him to stay home.

Schools open at our end of town but buses are cancelled I think. I did drive the kids instead of making them walk:love:

Schools are all open here in Guelph - temp is -15 and feels like -22

They aren't letting them go out for recess though - looks like tomorrow will be just as bad!!

Buses are running in Ottawa too but they aren't going out for recess. -29 here with -39 windchill. Not supposed to get higher than -20 until after Saturday. :scared1: Can't wait for the Florida sun in a few weeks time:cool1:

This is a first for us, I think.

Before we went to bed last night we checked the weather channel. It was -37, but the windchill was -52!!! I don't think I've seen it that cold, even in Winnipeg.

I think rural schools were closed because buses weren't running.

I remember once, years ago, having to wait for a bus going to work and thought I was going to freeze to death - my hands and feet were so cold. I was dressed warmly, but think I had just missed a bus. I actually cried a little I was so cold.

It's warmed up to -28 today and it's not bad. Just need to warm up the car and dress warmly. However, our trip to Florida in March seems a long ways away.

Keep warm everyone. Things are looking up for the weekend.

Nora
