Hi everyone,
I'm reading a lot about schoolbread on the forum, please tell me what it is and why it is so popular!!!! Also, what are churros?? what do they taste like? Thanks :flower:

I haven't had the schoolbread. A Churro is sort of a long. crispy funnel cake or an extruded doughnut, rolled in cinnamon and sugar.

I finally tried school bread. It's a big hunk of sweet bread with creamy filling like vanilla pudding, topped with coconut.

Don't know what it has to do with school.

I had the school bread from Norway's bakery last week. I have to admit, I don't understand why others think it was so great. It was a large round bread with some vanilla custard in it that came a little out the top. The top was covered in some sort of glaze like icing that was coated in coconut. The different thing about the bread was that it has some spices in it, like allspice or cloves, but it also had a little pepper in it to. I found it to be just okay. I would save my pastry calories for the bakery in France if I had the chance to do it again.

I LOVE school bread, and I think it's because it isn't sickeningly sweet as many desserts are. And very reasonably priced at $2.29. :)

The spice is actually cardamom, so it's a little different :)

I like the school bread because the bread itself isn't very sweet, which is a nice contrast for the custard and coconut.

Churros are moorish:) Yummy, delicious, you name it, they are IT!:teeth:

We couldn't get enough of them when we went to Disneyland a couple of years ago.:rotfl2:

Churros are snacks made from flour (often wheat), eggs, sugar and vegetable oil, with a pinch of other ingredients. The dough is pressed through a "decorator's tube", preferably one with a star shaped tip (but in a crisis it can also be rolled into sticks, or put in a plastic bag which you cut one corner of). After a short bake, it is sprinkled with sugar, or served with a chocolate dip, often together with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate.

Churros originated in Spain many years ago, and as its popularity grew, quickly spread to Mexico and Argentina. Ive also seen them sold as Brazillian Donuts but that may or may not be authentic.

My son and I tried one last month. We each took one bite, then tossed it in the trash.

I believe the reason we didn't like it is because it's not sweet. The only unsweet, bread type snacks I like are pretzels. Oddly, I refuse to eat a sweet pretzel. :confused3

So far I've tried Beaver Tails and Schoolbread. I didn't like either one. I guess I'll just have to keep returning to WDW until I can find an Epcot snack that we like. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

You know what is really yummy, besides Churros that is?

Cinnabon.............gosh are they yummy;)

Cinnabon are nice but are way too sweet. If they replaced some sugar with more cinnamon they would be perfect.

They sound so yummy! I will definatley have to try things like these when I go over, as we don't have churros in Australia. What other types of American snack foods do they have in the parks? And is candy corn sold all year round? (i've heard they are also really yum!!) I can't wait!!
:Pinkbounc

I can answer about the candy corn. The answer is its only around *usually* during the month of October for halloween. Unless, you find some that they havent gotten around to throwing out yet. :rotfl: Actually I have seen them sold all year round in some convience stores, but the main season for candy corn is near Halloween :sunny:
