School Uniforms - how many to buy?

I don't mean to hijack this thread but was thinking of starting a similar one. I was wondering how much people usually spend on uniforms. My twins are going to a private kindergarten in the fall and I just bought uniforms, ended up spending about $550 (that was with 10% off for ordering early). Is this typical? I got them each three regular uniforms, two gym uniforms and then the sweaters and v-necks.

The place we HAD to buy new uniforms was VERY expensive. We never bought all new, so we didn't spend as much as you mentioned. We learned quick that anything with the school logo could be had elsewhere (navy dress pants, white button down shirt that was worn under the winter sweater and navy socks). We would easily spend a few hundred dollars on gym pants, a gym t shirt or 2, logo sweater, etc. We would hit the "angels attic" school store first and get as much as we could in his sizes and in decent condition. I think there was only one year we were able to get everything we needed without having to buy new.

Someone above mentioned shoes - DDs school had two types they could wear - we bought her one of the plain white shoes (running shoes) and one of the Ked's saddle shoes. We bought those right before school started, and they lasted her the whole school year because she wasn't allowed to wear them for anything else until the last month of school!
