Well, it's about that time..

Staples is having their 1 cent sale..
limit 10 foldes
limit 2 purell hand sanitizer
limit 2 8-pack pencils

I found out.. called my parents.... they were on their way to town.. stopped by and grabbed the limit.. went to eat.. came back and the guy told them to get as much as they wanted..

So, we have
80 folders coming
18 purell hand sanitizers
28 8-packs of pencils..

All for the whopping sum of: $1.26

They checked the prices on paper: spiral and loose.. nothing on sale yet..

I did notice Wal*mart is putting their stuff out.. so time to start stocking up on rulers/markers/colored pencils/ erasers/crayons..

IT's the most wonderful time of the year! I love school supplies. I need to check our stash and get to Staples. Thanks Nancy.

WTH??? School just got out!!! I'm not ready for back to school stuff yet!

:lmao: I'm with you!

But those are great prices! Although our school did the pack that you could buy, so I did that. I might check Staples out just to stock up on the basics at home. :thumbsup2

I saw that Staples flyer in the paper today and showed DS. He said "Mom, it is odd that they miss spelled Summer Vacation supplies like "Back to School". Shouldn't someone have caught that?" Gotta love an 8 year old who can read...Anyway, Staples is on my list for tomorrow! :)

We were at Staples today. My granddaughter starts kindergarten and ds starts high school! Wow!

Grabbed 6 8-packs of pencils for her--enough for loss and breakage and 30 folders for me to use in teaching.

Will get her crayons and glue sticks at WM when she is in Kansas with us (we start 8/14 in KS so things will be on sale next week). We are in CA visiting our dd and family and dgd flies home with us tomorrow for 4 weeks! Will she be spoilt or what!

Our school offers the buying of the supplies too. I went that route this year.
I get caught up in the buying of the good deals. I still have packs of filler paper, college & wide ruled ;) along with spiral bound notebooks and three pronged/two pocket folders. Unfortunately the folders are PAPER and they need plastic. I will buy extra glue sticks, because Eldest seemed to eat those when he was if first grade so Little Bit might too.

Sending the DH to Staples today for the hand santizer.

Wow, those are good deals! I get home on Thursday and need to get by and pick some stuff up!:thumbsup2

We were going to offer pre-made school supplies...but our grade levels are so different in their needs..and the cost of $40.00 per basket was way more than I would spend in total... with 5 kids that was $200.00.. I could buy all the supplies they need and have plenty to spare w/ sales for less than 40.00 total (that is not including the calculators... which reminds me.. I need to buy a good one for DS12....)

Our school offers the baskets too. It drives me nuts that they want me to pay $1 for a folder I can get for 1 penny. They make money off me all year, I refuse to participate in being ripped off on the school suuplies. Now if they actually called it a fundraiser that would be different....

Our bundle was pretty inexpensive (no way was it $40- I wouldn't pay that). But I also figured that I saved myself gas driving to get all the deals, plus it seems I always buy more than I need because of the deals and then I always find stuff that isn't on the list. Which is perhaps my biggest downfall- the stuff not on the list. :scared:

Just right the list... I won't get anything more than is on my list... and I've learned from past experience... DO NOT take DH or DKids.. something will end up in that cart that was not suppose to be there... I looked forward to back to school shopping.. 1. I do it before the crowds.. 2. I get to go ALONE to the store.. I cherish that moment!

Also, since I shop early, I do 3 trips... that way I can check/recheck/check my list again!!

This is when I love being a teacher. The limit was 25 for teachers. I got 25 of each for all of 79 cents with tax. And my husband and friend each picked up their limits. I'm set for my students.

I can afford 1cent... how long does this sale last?

ETA: NM, I looked it up, ends Wed July 9.

Our PTO was looking into doing the bundles. Y'all don't think parents will go for it?

Our school doesn't supply back to school lists, they buy all of it. But we were looking into ways of cutting corners on the budget and this was a logical choice. We had 1 teacher give DS12 a list but it was after school started and all the stuff was gone. I was soooo ticked!

agh, reminds me I need to change DS's age, he's officially 12!!!!!:faint:

If you can do it for a reasonable price.. ours was 40.00...
now your school might be smaller than ours too..and could logistically do it for a better price.. provided they let you know what they need...

Ok, off to do dinner.. dh is home..

I don't think they will be that expensive but on the other hand, who is willing to pay the gas prices to drive all over creation for school supplies? We figured the one stop shopping would be good.
We are also looking into having School Store carry paper book covers at the beginning of the year.

I was so proud of myself. We are going on the Aug Magic Repo and school starts Sept 2nd, we get home on the 1st. I went down in the basement to where I have the "School Supply" rubbermaid container. Had all the stuff that was on dd's 5th grade supply list. Now I'm having withdrawls!!! We did hit Staples yesterday as they were across the way for the eye dr. Just need to get the paper towel and wipes and stuff. She doesn't need any glue sticks, crayons or colored pencils. Got them coming out of my ears!

Hit staples today. I was going for gold paper, yeah, $60 later.......But I got my paper, and labeler tape refills, DS12 got a locker system, pencils, a dry erase message board, recycled book covers, recycled composition books, and 1 subject note books. I didn't get folders because we still have all the ones from last year.

Our goal is for him to stay organized this year. Pray for me!

He can do it.. Tell him Auntie Nan says he has too!!

I'm hoping DD stays organized.. she is pretty much on her own now.. she is in HS so I'm not gonna try to keep track of that... I had enough trouble keeping track of that when I did it!! :)
