School schedules came today-when do you start school?

my kids go back Aug. 18th, the district I teach in they go back the 16th. I have to report Tues. the 10th. My school has a/c, but it works when it feels like it. I have a room that started out in life as a closet. It has no windows and shares exhaust vents with the kitchen, and has no ventilation. Life is not good in our room after 10 a.m., earlier if lunch has a stronger aroma lol. I stock Axe deodorant spray for the boys, they usually need it by lunch time, earlier if they have PE in the morning. I'm not thrilled with a room that stinks from Axe, but it smells slightly better then the boys do lol.

None of our buses have a/c, even the spec. services buses have to make due with open windows.

Some schools started back Aug. 5...some will start tomorrow...first day of class in our district is Aug. 16.

6th and 9th go 1/2 day on August 16
k-5, 7th and 10th go 1/2 day August 17
Everyone goes full day August 18

We are switching to 6-8 middle school and 9--12 high school, so that is why we have the double 1/2 days this year. Otherwise it is 1/2 day for new to middle and high school, then everyone the next day.

My kiddos go back Aug 23 and we get out, I believe May 22 or 23!

College DD starts on August 26th.

DS in 10th. grade has orientation on Sept. 2 (no transportation provided) and the first full day of school is on Sept 8th.

My on-line classes start on August 30th and my in-class ones start on September 19th. The summer semester just ended today so very little time in between.

We go back sept 7th but didn't end until June 26th or something like that..whatever the last Friday in June was. None of our schools have A/C. June and Sept can be brutal in the classrooms.

We start august 25th. DH's classes start the 30th, but the 23rd is when their meetings start.

My kids go back to school on August 16th -- quite a change from previous years when they didn't go back until after Labor Day. Last year we started on August 25th (or whatever the last Monday in August was), so the last school year ended on June 18th. With this year starting so much earlier, the summer was really short! And the reasoning behind the change is that we'll have more "learning" days before the mandatory state testing in March (which I think is a terrible reason but whatever).

The good news is that the school year will end before Memorial Day, giving me a couple of weeks head start on vacation planning!

I start my junior year of high school on September 9th so I still have a month left to relax. My brother is going to be a freshman at the University of Washington and they don't start till September 29th I believe. Seems a bit late to me considering the fact that sports seasons etc will be well underway. But I guess it's just a advantage of college life.

I have a 1st grader and 8th grader this year. Big year for my older one so we are looking forward to it. They both start on 9/2.

My DD starts Sept. 7th and because I teach at a private school I start Sept. 14th.

August 17th here and they go until late May / early June. I don't recall the exact date right now but it it varies anyhow due to having to make-up for days that get canceled due to fog or snow. They have to have 180 days of school.

My oldest starts college classes Aug. 23. The school where I work starts the same day--my meetings start Aug. 19 (but I will miss that day because I am helping DD move into her dorm). My younger two start Aug. 25. They get out about June 1.
Funny thing about schedules.....here they are really particular that kids do NOT get their schedules until they go on registration day the week before. And it's the last thing they get, after they pay fees, get picture taken, fill out forms, etc. Last Thursday someone went onto the school progress book site (online grades) and it was disabled, but found a back way in and voila, you could log in and get your schedule. Facebook must have been on fire around here. But the next day if you tried to use the shortcut it said the account had been disabled. Luckily my own kids got their schedules, but I don't understand the big deal. "It's Tradition!" Yeah, right. If the schedules are ready, mail them out!

Registration/pictures is today for my DS (elementary). Meet the teacher is later in August (however, they already have their class assignment).

DD17 (SR) is today through Wednesday to register/ pics/schedules and sport registrations.

DD11 has her registration/pics/schedules on Thursday (middle school).

We start school Sept 1 (whole district).

In my district school starts on September 7th for the kids. We have inservice days on the 1st and 2nd, so I need to go in to set up my classroom before that.
