Well, technically yesterday but we were out of town. The kids have been typing away on Facebook to see who they have class with. It was 110 today, not quite "fall, school" weather yet :lmao:

So, when do your kids start school? Our high schoolers start on Sept 7th, DS18 starts his college classes on Aug 23rd.

School starts in our district on August 30. I start Sept. 13 (private preschool). I'm not ready to go back at all...I'm not ready for the kids to go back either!

My semester starts august 30th but I'm taking T/R classes so my first class is august 31st. Which is the day that my financial aid refund should direct deposit!:cool1:

We started on Friday . Booooo I wasn't quite ready for summer to end. I will say one good thing bout starting so early is we are out mid May, which means it is good time to go on vacation . Rest of the country is still in school.

Most of the schools around here start tomorrow. The only reason I know this is because I am having to watch my neighbor's daughter this week because school starts and for some crazy reason the Boys and Girls Club has decided to be closed... Yes, closed during the first week of school. So, they were in a bind and needed help.

Now I just need to know what to do with a 10 year old for 7 hours tomorrow and 2.5 hours everyday the rest of the week.

My first class is Aug 31st.

My kids go to different colleges, but both go back the 16th, a week from tomorrow.
Public K-12 schools here go back August 23 and get out June 10.
That's 2 weeks longer than I went, well, in duration. We used to go back the day after labor day, and go to about June 10. But the public schools now take Thanksgiving week off, instead of just Thanksgiving and the day after, and they take a week off for Presidents day, instead of just President's day.

My kids started back to school last Thursday, August 5. This is the earliest our district has ever started and I think it's a huge mistake. It's still in the high 90s, with heat indices in the 110 range. Our buses don't have air conditioning this year due to budget cuts, and some buses are packed 3 to a seat. It's about 108 degrees inside the buses, despite the windows being open. Christian has difficulty controlling his temp due to brain damage, so we had to get the pediatrician to write an actual prescription demanding he have A/C on his bus. His bus driver is thrilled. But I feel sorry for the rest of the kids that don't have it.

My kids started back to school last Thursday, April 5. This is the earliest our district has ever started and I think it's a huge mistake. I am going to assume August, not April :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Wow, that is early. At least you have AC in your buildings, many schools here don't have AC and with budget cuts even those that do might not use it. We often need it well into October but seldom does it get turned on. I bet your bus driver buys you a good Christmas present :lmao:

 Yes, August. I had a brain cell die.

Thankfully, most of our schools do have A/C. THey are almost universally built without windows, so they have to have A/C or they'd all have a heat stroke. Older schools do have windows, but most of them have been retrofitted with A/C. I grew up on the Alabama Gulf coast where we routinely have >90 temps from May through Sept, into Oct. My school was one of the oldest in Mobile County and it had no A/C. Just open windows. Ugh. Everybody smelled like goats by 10am. My senior year I had PE first period. There was no recovering from that. And we had to play outside, no inside stuff unless it was pouring rain or <32 degrees.

College Marching band camp starts the 23rd and regular classes starts the 30th I believe. (We are moved in a week before everyone else starts)

We went back a month ago= our 1st break is in about 5 weeks. It hass been really hot here too and the busses don't have AC- but the kids aren't really on them that long at least not long enough for a heat related illness to occur. But all the buildimgs have AC, the only problem is that it has been too hot for outdoor recess!

I went back on August 3, and my students will arrive bright and early tomorrow morning. This break seemed shorter than ever, but I'm ready to go back.

For University of California schools we don't start until mid september. At UC Irvine we start Fall quarter classes Sept.23rd. I move in Sept. 18th. I still have more than 5 weeks to go.

We start August 8th, and boy, is everyone ready since we're seniors. This is the year I get to take all the english/literature classes I want since I have most of my required classes out of the way. I can't wait to start!

Our schools start August 26. Schedule information went up online this weekend, and there were some surprises in the teacher category. Budget issues have led to some creative teacher usage, with some teaching different subjects and classes than where they usually are placed. It's going to be an interesting year.
