School policy different than district policy

Has anyone ever encountered this? I looked it up on the district website and it said that students are allowed 10 unexcused absences. But I just spoke with the school and they said that students are only allowed 5 parent note excused absences. I'm assuming parent note excused is the same as unexcused.

Unexcused = no excuse at all (or, possibly, not a valid excuse)
Parent note = Excuse from parent

I would ask for clarification. I don't know why you would be allowed more unexcused than excused. Maybe the 10 unexcused is for the year and the 5 excused is per marking period or semester?

I just called the district and they said I was absolutely fine. They said the schools will use that as a scare tactic to discourage parents from taking kids out of school unnecessarily. I was freaking out! I researched this thoroughly before we made reservations. I even talked with their teachers last year to see what they thought. They were excited for us!

The district said they are actually allowed 10 excused absences with includes parent notes. They pretty much said don't worry, talk with the teachers to work everything out with them, and have fun!
