Well the packets came home for school pictures.. prices range from $17-$75.. whew.. These are the type of school pictures that you don't preview prior to purchase.. so it is always a shot in the dark on what you will get.. my 15 y/o may possibly look as if he was posing for a mug shot, similar to last years freshman photo.

I have taken to ordering the lowest priced package, which is $17 for 2-3x5, and 8 wallets..

Does your childs school handle yearly photo's in the same manner? Jr. Hi and High School are similar here.

Hi Joan!

We received the packages the first week of school and pictures were taken 9/11. They do seem to be getting more and more expensive if you ask me. The only good thing since we don't see the pictures taken is that they offer a money back guarantee or a re-take. I went with the $25 package, which included 1-8x10, 2-5x7's, 2-3-1/2x5,8-large wallets and 8 small wallets, and they don't even do class group photo's anymore, you just get a sheet with each individual childs picture on it.

Our school pictures are the same way.

DD is in preschool, but most school around here are the same. School pictures are taken twice a year. The first one is not previewed prior to purchase, but the second on is. Satisfaction is guaranteed, so you can have them retaken or ask for a refund. We ordered a deluxe package, 1 8X10, 2 5X7, 2 4X6, 16 wallets for $19.00.

It's the same here, you don't preview it. I usually get the most inexpensive package, as I never know what I'll get. My DS's 4th grade picture looked like he was sitting on a tack.

I know they don't do re-takes, but I'm not sure if there is a money back guarantee. The prices definitely keep going up.

My kids' school takes pics in the fall and spring. I never buy the fall pics (they always look like convicts in those pics:rolleyes: ), but I always buy the spring pics. I usually pay about $40 for each of my kids' set of pics.

Our kids' school started using Lifetouch Studios. I cannot begin to tell you how happy we were with the spring pictures. I paid $20-25 per child.

We not only got 1-8X10, 2-5X7's, and 8-wallets, but we got 4 bookmarkers, 4 refrigerator magnets, one set of plastic "Mom" pictures, one set of plastic "Dad" pictures (for our wallets,) 2 key tags and 16-sticker photos. All in all, I didn't think this was a bad deal.

DDs preschool has them take her Spring pictures, but not the Fall pictures. I really do like all the 'extras' they offer.

Our packages at the elementary run from about $17 and up. The fall pictures are mandatory at our school because it's the one that they use in the yearbook and on student ID's. You don't have to buy them but they ahve to have a picture taken.
In the Spring you get to see them first and then decide if you want to buy them.

This is DS's first year in high school. They warned us before enrollment that they would be taking photos that day. You payed for a package if you wanted to buy and they took the photo for the yearbook and school ID right then. Cost was about the same as what you guys are describing.

Parents got to watch the photo being taken and choose the background. I liked it! Wish they would do the same thing in middle school. Sometimes they look like they've had a rough day before they get in line for the photo. :D
