School lunches

Where do you get the thermos containers that keep foods warm?

Anyone have a link to one that works well for them?

TIA!

lands end has a great thermos that keeps food warm and isn't hard to open (or close) dd(8) uses hers when she gets adjustments to her braces/expander andher mouth is sore for a few days.

The thermos is not too expensive and so much better than the cheap one I bought at Walmart Back to School time last year.

Thanks! I'll check out Lands End. :goodvibes

My daughter is super picky. There are only a few select things she will eat. Her school doesn't give the option of a microwave so, I had to get one of those thermos mug/bowl things to put her preciously nasty spaghetti-o's and other things like mac-n-cheese, rice, etc in. We are not allowed to send sodas or sweets (which doesn't bother me one bit).

Some of the things I send are:
spaghetti-o's (YUCK, but she likes them)
mac-n-cheese
Rice (not white but the kinds in the package lke chicken rice, broc. and cheese rice, etc)
Hot Dogs (well turkey dogs but she doesn't know the difference)
home made lunchables(turkey cut into shapes, crackers, cheese cut into shapes)
Fruit "salads" (no lettuce because she won't eat lettuce, just tons of different types of fruit)
Green beans (LOVES them, her favorite food, I know I have a strange child)
Peanut Butter and something for her to dip with (she won't eat PB on bread or anything else, uses it as a dipping sauce)
Sausage and Busicuts (she loves even if it is a breakfast food and if she will eat, who cares)

You've just described my DD5!! (minus the sausage and buscuits and she will eat a PB & J, but only certain jellys) She starts kindergarten this fall, and they do not have a hot school lunch, so we will be packing everyday. :scared1: I will be in need of some creative suggestions. I will have to check out the other threads.

Whomever suggested FREEZING the PB & J sandwiches, you are my hero! :yay:

I wouldn't worry about variety so much. Kids will eat the same thing forever before they get tired of it, if the get tired of it. I would find the one easy thing they like and send it everyday. If they get tired of it, then find one other thing and send it everyday till they get tired of it. Makes lunch preperation so easy and kids are usually happier with a known, if repetative routine.
