Hi all,
Plan on sending my boys in with cold lunch from home as much as possible. However, I bought them some new lunch bags and they are just too small.

Can you recommend one that is big enough especially to hold a bottle of water in it, yet small enough to put in their back pack?
Thanks a million!

I am not a kid, but I needed a larger bag for my lunch for work - those gladware containers take up a lot of room.

I found this one at BB&B:

It is supposed to be for 9 cans, but it is a good size for my lunch. And I can fold it down after lunch and tuck it into my brief-bag to bring it home, if it is empty (i.e., no containers to bring home).

I was also looking at these:

Good luck!

My girls have llbean lunch boxes (which match their backpacks). The bags are insulated and easy to clean.

I really liked the ones we ordered last year from Garnet Hill. They are a pretty roomy- definitely big enough to hold a standard water bottle. They help up really well all year and I was going to use them again this year but they both want a different *new* design this year.
The lunchbags come for free with the purchase of a backpack too as an added bonus. I am ordering one for my daughter again this year. (Son thinks they are too babyish for him now). A few of the patterns are on backorder till some time this month (including the butterfly one my dd is getting.)

Another llbean buyer here! My DS is on his third year with his llbean backpack and matching lunchbox, and they are like new!

I have found that if I try to use a lunch box that isn't rectangle and doesn't lay flat and open that I can't fit all his food inside. A bag style just didn't work at all.

7 years here using an LL Bean lunchbox. Of course, I'm not a kid, but it does get put in a communal fridge at a middle school each day! Comes clean well and keeps my lunch cool when I don't put it in the fridge.

My kids use an organic cotton bag, made by reuseit.

They have the large size, and it holds a surprising amount of stuff.

My dses have LLBean lunchbags. I think they are very roomy.

I found a nice one for my daughter in the camping section of Wal Mart. It's meant to carry a six-pack and the interior comes out for cleaning. It also has a large top section where you can put snacks and keep them from getting crushed. I paired that with a couple of 99 cent ice packs and she used it all summer at camp. By the time she got home (after 4pm) the ice packs were still pretty much frozen and she told me it kept her drinks and food cold.

Oh, and it came in a multitude of colors and she got a pretty purple one. :cutie:

I like the neoprene lunch bags made by Built NY. There are various sizes, and they have a bit of a stretch to them in case you want to put in oddly shaped objects. The Built NY brand is a bit pricey, but I believe that both Target and Walmart now carry the BYO brand, which is also made by Built NY. The particular one that I have is the Rambler model, which is fairly large.

As an added plus, you can toss them in the washing machine and drip dry them. This is the one I have, but they come in solid colors too.

Just a quick reminder to look for the "leadfree" and "PVC free" tags on their insulated lunch bags. Unless the product label says they don't contain these toxins, you have to assume that they do. It helps to avoid things made in China if you can.

My son's has a stretchy pocket on the side where the bottle goes and the inside is just a pretty roomy rectangle. It is super-easy to pack. Bought it at target.
