Yes, I felt wounded by your posts. Now I feel amused. That's how emotions work. I bounced back and decided I wasn't going to let my feelings aobut your behavior keep me from participating in a community I normally enjoy.
I don't think I assumed that the parent wasn't well intentioned. I never said you weren't well intentioned if you bought something for someone on a field trip. I said I was irritated when someone bought for my child. People asked why, so I explained. I have no idea what issue you think I'm avoiding.
I never even bothered evaluating my feelings about it until this whole thread came about. It just was how I felt. Now, after reading this thread I AM probably going to assume that the parent is thinking poorly of me for not sending money. And, no, it won't change my behavior. I'll only send money if it's asked for. I'll probably still be irritated if someone spends money on my child. Since my kids are old enough to deal with it themselves now it won't be an issue.
It surprises me that you think every emotion felt should be squelched until you decide if it is valid or not.
We obviously disagree on the differences between emotions and actions. I'm sure neither one of us will be changing our minds.
