school excuse for kindergarten

We are taking our dd out of school for a week at the beginning of December, she is in the 2nd grade. Our school system requires us to fill out an educational leave form for our child. Disney is approved as long as the child turns in something written about what they have learned.

Yes Disney is mainly entertainment but there is so much to learn. The architecture of some of the buildings, the different plants and flowers used, the physics used for the rides, special effects, trying new foods, etc.

My dd is very curious about these things. When she was 4 1/2 we spent 4 hours in innoventions. There is so much to hands on learning. Also, when we visited the different countries she wanted to learn how to say hello and goodbye in each country, and to wanted to know who each country was different than the US.

At DHS, she loved learning about how cartoons were created.

These are just a few ideas. Yes, I am sure there are many families who go to WDW and just visit each attraction and not really think more about it. Not me and my family, we want to know more.

Heck, our little 4 day trip to the beach was a fun learning experience.

So in my opinion, those who don't think Disney is educational just hasn't visited with the right frame of mind.

BTW, I am used to teach math and used to create curriculum for the academically gifted, so I think I have a grasp on things.
