No offense, but school policy or not, I'm not sure sandals are ever proper attire for school. Just me, and I do sincerely mean no offense.
Why not, it is school, HIgh school. What is the big deal. THis isn't corporate america, these kids are going to classes, dressing out for gym no big deal.
Our high schoolers are allowed flip flops, all other grades must have straps.

The Principal explained at orientation that discipline problems have leveled out near zero since they decided to allow Ipods. They are allowed during study hall and any time the students are working independently and the teacher allows it. My daughters art teacher says that once the lesson is introduced, they are free to use the Ipod, the science teacher says that during non-lecture/discussion time they may use them.
) but to say that it is a private school, they need to wear a tie with the shirt. We actually matched ties to the shirts and they looked nice. They were warm, which my DS liked since there are few options of things to wear over their shirts and ties in the winter. I've never heard of flannel shirts potentially being part of gang attire, but I don't think that would be the motivating factor in DS's school, so...who knows? Ok, sorry, back to footwear!
