School "christmas" winter breaks this year?

I have been reading all I can about December as this is when we are planning on going and it seems many schools are not out till directly before Christmas Dec 23 and then returning to school Jan 9. We actually have 3 weeks this coming year Dec 17 to Jan 10.
I just wondered what dates most of the children/students are out in your area as I am guessing at crowds for this time of year?

My guess for hear on Long Island, NY would be around 12/23 to 1/2. Usually it is only about a week to week and a half depending upon how the holidays fall.

Here in Lee County Fl our last day of school is 12/16. Depending on hurricane make up days (please...I hope we have none this year!), we go back either 1/3 (if we have a make up day), 1/4 if we don't.

Ours is from Dec 21-Jan 4 - we're in a small school district in north central Indiana.

We go a half day on Dec 23rd, have off through Jan 8, return on Monday Jan 9. Also from Central Indiana.

We are leaving for WDW on December 17th so we can spend my birthday(Dec.23rd) and Christmas at Disney World!

Wow it does sound like the week right before Christmas might not be to horribly busy....or is that just wishful thinking. Thanks for all the responses...it seems we get way too much time off here in my School District for Christmas break (I think over 3 weeks is too much )

Well, the DVC points are massively expensive the week before Christmas starting that wednesday, I think it's the 20th, so I'm betting it's going to be crowded!

We looooove going to Disney right after new years, the crowds vanish, the weather's great, and the Disney characters are all over us like white on rice.

Lately the marathon/half marathon days in January have been sorta crowded, but not too bad.
