It's a sweet bread roll, filled with vanilla custard, topped with a thin layer of frosting, shredded coconut, and more vanilla custard. They're yummy.

Do these things (and croissants from France) travel well to the hotel to be breakfast the next morning?

Yes they do. I always take along plastic bags in my luggage. Wrap them box and all and put in fridge. Yummy breakfast. We have always thought it a little strange that the restaurants with the best breakfast offerings don't open until after breakfast time.
