I need some people from different countries or cultures who like sports and knows of sports in their community (most popular one), it doesn't matter who all answers, just tell me what country your from and the sport. and answer these questions.

Question 1: What is your name?
Question 2: What is your communities favorite sport?
Question 3: Do you include people with disabilities into your game?
Question 4: What are any special rules or modifications you make for these friends?

Thank you for your responses!

for those that answer, a cookie and a thumbs up! :thumbsup2

Sorry. He lives in the US.

Anyone? Even if you live in the US please. He just needs different cultures. If you could tell us what state you are in, that would help. Thank you!

I think part of the problem is that most people can't say with authority what their community's favorite sport is. At least I know I can't say with any authority. I can say what my favorite sport is, but I don't know how that helps, especially because I don't know how to answer the other questions.

And are we talking professional sports? College? High school? Youth?

Honestly, the assignment doesn't say. This is for a personal fitness class. I am not even sure what the point is. He has to gather the information and write an essay. I don't know how knowing what sports other people like will help him unless he has never been exposed to them. When I answered, I just answered what my favorite sport is and so on.

4. The blind person skates with a guide.

1. Ev
2. Hockey.
3. There are sledge hockey teams but I live in a small town...you would need to go to a larger city to play.
4. Rules are the same...equipment difference would be the sledge (sled) and a different hockey stick. (it has more of a curve and spikes on the end used for propulsion)

OT ~ But how come the OP (who has posted twice) has a tag already...no fair!! ;)

He made his own tag. He is my little map too! I taught him how to read a map at Disney World when he was little. Well, not really, but we practiced our skills there.

Didn't know you could do that...hope his assignment goes well.

Question 1: What is your name? Sheila (from Mississippi)

Question 2: What is your communities favorite sport?
My community's favorite sport would be basketball. We live in a small rural community, and that's the main sport in the high school (no football at all - just a little baseball/softball). As is obvious from my tag, my family's favorite sport is horseshowing.

Question 3: Do you include people with disabilities into your game?
The school basketball program does not discriminate regarding students that are ruled academically as being SpEd depending on the physical handicap, a student might be unable to make the team.

Regarding horseshowing, both 4-H programs and AQHA horseshows welcome people with disabilities and have classes that are designated for special needs individuals.

Question 4: What are any special rules or modifications you make for these friends?

In horseshowing, the special needs riders are allowed a walker to help them with their horse as they participate in the class.

ETA: Although not entirely on topic, he may want to check into hippotherapy. My daughter did a paper and presentation on it for a college class (she has participated as a volunteer). The professor liked the topic and her presentation so much that he included it as part of an article he wrote.

1. Golfgal (Minnesota)

2. Hard to say-if you are talking high school, probably football, but the marching band has more members then the football team and the cross country team has the most state tournament appearances. Soccer is pretty popular too. Our wrestling team and hockey teams are doing well and have a lot of participants. Our golf teams regularly send people to the state tournament as does our softball team. Our marching band, however is the most successful program in the school.

3. If the need arose, people with disabilities would be allowed, however, we have an extensive adaptive sports program so kids with disabilities gravitate toward those.

4. Unsure as there hasn't been a need that I am aware of yet. About 3 years ago the school voted one of the special ed girls as homecoming queen-she is a sweet, sweet girl that everyone loved.
