Happy Friday everyone!

We're nearly two weeks into the month and we've got a few more colour changes. Congrats to sophy1996 and myself (clappyclaps) for reaching purple, and to everyone in general for making great progress!



Our next scene stealing sidekick is Ray from The Princess and the Frog (this one is for you @Twilight Sparkle )



Ray is a Cajun firefly from the Bayou of New Orleans, who helps Tiana and Naveen in their plight to be turned back into humans and thwart the evil Dr Facilier. Ray is in love with an evening star, Evangeline, and he has a big heart and is rather sweet, despite being a little eccentric.

While it isnt directly addressed in the film, fireflies were revealed to become stars when they die, implying that Evangeline was once a firefly who passed away. This is further supported at the end of the film when Ray is seen as a star shining next to Evangeline. This is also a potential reference to our previous scene stealing sidekick Timon, who is seen wondering aloud whether stars are fireflies in The Lion King.

Fun facts - Ray is voiced by Jim Cummings who has also voiced such characters as Darkwing Duck, the Cheshire Cat, Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, the latter two includes the live action Christopher Robin film from 2018. Also, a sad fact for you but Ray is one of the few Disney sidekicks to die on screen, the only other notable one being Bing Bong from Inside Out.
