DS just turned 9 and we're having a party out at a local park tomorrow afternoon. I've got some basic ideas of what I'd like to do with the kids (maybe a dozen or so). I've thought of giving them a list of things to search for and giving them a time limit and the group with the most items found within time wins. DS suggested searching for a buried treasure but I haven't been able to wrap my brain around that one...

Any more creative ideas?

At that age we got John-Cole a Pinata (did I spell that right?) Anyway there were only a dozen so kids so there was plenty of candy and goodies. Get a broom handle, blindfold them and they had a blast!! I also set them free with water balloons which they loved!

A good idea with a scavenger hunt with that many children is to have the items color coded and give each child a color. Otherwise there may be someone that doesn't get anything and another that gets just about everything!
I've done that with easter egg hunts too, different colors for different kids, if they see another color they can't touch it or else they have to give up one of theirs!
Have Fun! I love those games
