I was in the other room brushing my teeth and yelling for DS to come in so we could brush his when I heard "MOMMMMMYYYY HELLPPPP" so I went into the living room, and DS was holding the television up as it was sliding off the stand- a 27 inch TV!!! I had no idea he would have the strength to pull it onto himself, but that is what he just about managed to do. I quickly ran over and pushed it back onto the stand just as he began to lose hold. Going to Home Depot to get bolts right now!

There were balls behind the tv he was trying to get. He learned his lesson, no moving the TV. If he has nine lives, it was just reduced to 8!

How scary. Glad you and DS are ok.

I often worry about this with our DS's.....we actually tied the TV down on the TV stand for the same reason but i'd eventually like to get the TV that hangs on the wall for this very reason.

When my DNephew was 4, he pulled a 27 inch TV on himself ... managed to jump out of the way, sort of ... broke his leg. Could have been a lot worse. He was climbing the entertainment unit and tried to use the tv as "leverage" :rolleyes1

Glad your DS is OK.

I now know he is strong enough to hold a TV for 30 seconds or so, but jumping out of the way, I am not sure, and hope to never find out. There was a coffee table near by that would have pinned him too. So scary. We are going to deliver Girl Scout cookies now, but how differently the day could have gone...

Ain't that the truth! It never ceases to amaze me the things kids can get into. And accidents can happen to quickly and easily!

I used to (and sometimes still do) have nightmares of all the things that could go wrong with my kids. The worst was at the mall we used to go to when they were little, there was two stories. I used to have nightmares that one of them was trying to climb up on the railing to see something below and before I could stop him, he tumbled over!! I would rush over to see him laying on the ground below, then wake up just shaking. So horrible. I think it has alot to do with my fear of heights. I'm always scared when we go anywhere and there's an overlook of any sort because of that nightmare I had.

Anyways, didn't mean to ramble on. Sorry. I'm really glad your son is okay. I'm sure that got your heart pumping really good too!! :earseek:

Our 27" TV fell on my ds when he was 5. Took him to the dr. and for a head x-ray. He was o.k. but had a weired shaped spot on his head for about a year! Didn't look exactly like a bump, just like his head was growing funny in one spot. Dr. said it would happen and not to worry. Now, when ever he has trouble with something (school work, motor skill, etc.) I do stop and wonder!

that happened to me when i was little,i'm now 45 ...and that answers alot of questions!!!! :rotfl: and i've had those same nightmares about my kids too! :scared1:

:scared1: Holy cow! Glad you made it in time. It always amazes me what kids will do to themselves. It's a wonder they live to see adulthood. hope the rest of your day is a lot better than this!

Same thing happened here.

My son pulled down the TV (I forget what he was trying to do) and luckily he managed to jump out of the way.

Unfortunately, our Nintendo was not quite so lucky. LOL. It took a direct hit and was unrecognizable afterwards, as was the TV.

Later the same night, we heard on the radio how a little girl in our town died doing the exact same thing that day. I just started shaking - very scary.

That is scary!! I am glad you were able to get to him before anything awful happened!!

Scary! A boy in our neighborhood the same age as my DS died this way over the summer. We bougth DS an LCD TV that is very lighweight for his room to play GameCube.

Wow! How scary. How can a tv be secured to the stand to prevent that?

I'm glad to hear he is safe. How very scary for both of you!
