So, today was a very weird day for me. After lunch, I had one of my classes and started to not feel well. I felt sweaty/clamy and started having issues with my eyes. I didn't see spots or stars, but saw a spikey hologram-like design that curved into a circle. It increasingly got worse until it was making it difficult to see. I then started feeling slightly lightheaded. I sat down for a bit and after about 15 minutes, it started to go away and I felt better. I felt tired, but soon perked up and started to feel like I had more energy. On the way home, I started feeling tired again.

I am not sure what is wrong with me, but the fact that it was difficult to see and I felt this way scared me. Something very similar happened after riding on the school bus to a field trip in December. I also had an experience like this last May when school was winding down as it is now.

Anybody have experience with something like this? Is it blood pressure issues? heart? other?:confused3:guilty:

I'm no nurse, but sounds like blood pressure. I got that way a lot when I was pregnant. Go to the doctors and get a check up.

Did you get the eye thing too? It's so hard to describe it, but it really made my vision bad. I am lucky that the kids were working independently. It really made me nervous.

I'm going to make an appointment next week. I have a pretty bad phobia when it comes to docs and needles, but have been doing well with doc offices as of lately. When they say I need bloodwork, it'll be much worse. -sigh- Why me?

The spikey hologram thing sounds a lot like the visual aura I get before a migraine, but the rest of your description doesn't really fit the bill. Hopefully the doctor will have some answers for you.

It sounds a bit like panic/anxiety attacks. When I have had these I go really clammy and my vision goes abit followed by being light headed.

Are you a bit stressed out at the moment ?

Feel better soon

I had something like that several years ago. In the center of my vision was like a large blurry snowflake. It lasted a few hours. I did feel a little light headed as well. My doctor said it was an ocular migraine. I didn't have a headache either. He said sometimes he gets them if he gets light or bright sunlight flashed in his eyes after being inside for a while. You still absolutly need to get checked out but mine was harmless.

Sounds like what I went through several years ago. My doctor at the time called it an "Optic Migrane". The spell itsself had no lasting damaging eccects and wasn't any real concern. But the spells were a direct result of high bllod pressure. Prolly best to get it checked out. If it is BP, can more than likely be corrected with meds.

Nikki, I hope you're feeling better soon. Better be safe and get it checked out.

Nikki, I also get ocular migraines (I get the regular ones, too) and this sounds a lot like the first few I had. Do migraines run in your family? I come from a long line of female migraine sufferers, but it doesn't always have to be like that. Also, I tend to get mine about a week before my period starts. Is the timing of yours suspect at all?

was going to say the same thing, the other part actually sounds like low blood sugar, but that shouldnt be if you had just had lunch. And Nikki dont feel bad about not being too fond of doctors, I am a nurse I hate to go to them as well :rotfl:

hope you feel better soon.

It really never hurts to see the doctor. Taking your blood pressure is quick and easy, like most other routine things they would check. If they order bloodwork or other tests that you are uncomfortable with, you can always opt out. But then you are at least making an informed decision. Google and internet friends are great comfort but no replacement for medical care. Please take care of yourself!

Yikes, Nikki! I bet that was scary. Definitely head to the doc & get checked out, OK?

Did you eat lunch? I had what sounds like a similar episode the other day and i think it was from skipping lunch. As soon as I had a bit to eat it went away. MY BP runs on the low side, so I'm sure it was not that.

Can't hurt to get checked out.

Not an MD, but this sounds like an ocular migrane to me. I had something similar a few years ago, and that's what the eye doctor diagnosed. Scary though! You definitely need to see an opthomologist however. My mom always told me "You don't mess with your eyes."

Good luck, and let us all know the outcome!

I just Googled ocular migraines and clicked on the first link found:

http://www.allaboutvision.com/conditions/ocular-migraine.htm

I scrolled about halfway down to a picture with a caption. It was the EXACT spikey design that I saw. Do those of you who have experiend this get a clamy or sweaty feeling with it?

Eep.... I wish I hadn't looked at the picture. Made me feel that ominous migraine feeling. :scared1: That's a really good representation of it, though.

I've only had 'just' ocular migraines (meaning just the aura, minus the pain afterward, I mean, which I'd call a 'regular' migraine, if that makes sense) a couple of times, but yeah, the clamy, sweaty feeling goes hand in hand with it for me. Nausea, too.
