Scary call from school today!

This afternoon, the assistant principal from my daughter's school called me at work to tell me that my 13 year old daughter was having an asthma attack and they were calling 911!

Thankfully after the EMTs gave her a couple of breathing treatments she is okay and her oxygen levels were back to normal. She's had asthma for a while now but it's always been exercise induced. This was the first time she has ever had one without any warning.

I'm glad your DD is ok now. I know how scary it can be. I pray I never get this call from my DD's school, as she has severe asthma as well. It's usually well controlled, but you never know when a severe attack can strike.

Yikes! That is absolutely terrifying. Glad to heard DD is feeling better. DH and I have asthma and have both experienced something similar. NOT FUN!!

Praise God and EMT's she is alright. Bless her heart, I can't imagine how scary that was for your sweet DD, you, and all involved.

Puberty can do that to kids, I would get her into the asthma dr and have her checked to make sure things are still ok for her or if she will now need maintenance meds.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts.

She actually takes 2 daily medications...a pill and a preventative inhaler. I am taking her in first thing in the morning to her asthma doctor to have her medications evaluated.

I have to say I am so impressed with her school and the EMTs. They handled the situation so incredibly and maintained her dignity and privacy without freaking the other kids out! I'll definately be writing both groups thank you notes!
