Scaring myself - Eating in Disney while PG?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!:goodvibes That is wonderful! It took us 4 years- 2 of those with an RE to get DD, and it was so hard, so I can't imagine how hard 11 years must have been. Just enjoy your pregnancy. I think the good thing about trying so long is that we are happy about the yucky pregnancy symptoms that others hate. Drink LOTS of water- all through your pregnancy (it will help keep your legs and feet from swelling), but especially at WDW. If you find yourself nauseous, try Lemonade- that was about the only thing that worked for me. Sometimes eating a little snack can help the nausea too. You can eat deli meats if they are heated/toasted, but not cold. The toasting supposedly kills the listeria. I stayed away from them entirely though. Statistics show that although listeriosis is rare, pregnant women are 20 times more likely to get it than a non-pregnant person and a full 27% of all cases involve pregnant women. You also don't want any of your meats too rare, and definitely no sushi. Stay away from caffeine, especially in the 1st trimester, but if you can do it, it is better to keep away from it your whole pregnancy. I didn't give up buffets when I was pg- my RE and OB never mentioned that and I never even thought about the fact that they might be a problem. I craved Indian food constantly when I was pg for some reason, so I ate at the buffet quite a bit. Yikes Laniesmom,the scent of lavendar completely made me sick when I was pg. Just the thought of pulling it out and smelling it still makes me cringe :laughing: Just don't overdo it trying to keep up with your family. You may tire out more easily than you are used to. If you need to stop and sit for awhile, do it. You can all stop to see a show, or you can just sit and people watch and let them run around for a while. Have a wonderful time and a wonderful pregnancy!

I am so happy for you, while we didn't have to wait 11 years, we did have several issues getting pregnant too so I am totally sympathize with the feeling of wanting to follow ALL the rules! :rotfl:

I would say in Disney World always speak to the waiter, tell him/her that you are pregnant and will not eat anything undercooked, prepared with raw eggs or undercooked meats, and anything not pasteurized and then ask that he/she inform you if anything you order falls under those categories - just to be on the safe side.

Then maybe he/she will sympathize if baby decides not to like the food and bring you something else ;)

I was really good about the rules with my first pregnancy - except I had MASSIVE cravings for greek salads (with feta cheese) so that was the one rule I did break - hey the baby wanted it - who am I to say no!?

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :banana::banana::banana:

Congrats!:cheer2: and enjoy your trip!!:woohoo:

I was pregnant at Disney, and truthfully...between the heat and all, you may not feel like eating that much yo begin with! All restaurants have vegetarian options, which are pretty safe bets, and food is less of an issue than rides. Since you are at an Epcot resort, you'll have plenty to do without thrill rides.

Go easy on yourself! Your body will tell you what it wants, and it is usually right!....Lots of smoothies, steak/burgers, chicken ceasar salad, etc. Remember that even in winter you will feel hot, so bring light clothing, and ask your doctor what sunscreen is best to use!

...remember...Disney doesn't allow bad things to happen, and takes precautions in all matters to keep a wholesome, family image, so I am SURE they keep food safe: kids, pregnancies, elderly....

Enjoy having one body to take care of, because life changes right as they come out!( in great, amazing ways!)...Have some romantic times, because it gets harder to have them when 2 becomes 3!:dance3:

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've already gotten great advice about restaurants, etc, so I just popped in to add my congrats!!!

Now don't forget to go back to WDW next year with the new baby so you can push that stroller down Main Street and do a well-deserved victory lap!!!!

Best wishes!!!!
