OK, it was a strange day, but I have learned that the husband of someone I know is in the KKK and a militia man:scared: He evidently has an arsenal either located in their basement or shed. Nothing in plain site. His group is preparing for a government take over when terrorists strike again, which they feel is very soon!! This is one of the queitest guys I know! Evidently he has a very evil side I was unaware of. I was helping move some furniture and set some items in the next room ( his offfice i guess) and his wife became terrified! She informed me no one was allowed in his room and if he found out he would be mad. I simply said "He's not here helping. If he was so concerned he would have been here and I really am not afraid of him." It was a couple hours later I learned what he was involved with. It was through someone else I learned all this. Now to be very honest, I don't really like the guy and I only tolerate the the wife because she has been around my family my whole life. I try to stay away, because they do get on my last nerve every time the wife opens her mouth, but I was doing a favor for someone else in helping with the furniture. SO know that I know what I know, what do I do? :confused3 Personally I would love to see him taken down, but he really hasn't done anything but be scarey now. It makes sense now as to why a close friend of her son's stopped coming around. The girl has biracial children and must have been worried for their safety. A comment she made a few years ago now makes sense! She said her kids weren't safe with "A's" stepfather around. :sad2: You hear about these people but you never expect to know one! :scared:

Wow that really is scary. Maybe you can put an anonymous tip in to Homeland security in your area or something to keep tabs on him?

I'd be more scared not to say something to someone. What if what you learned is really true? Do you want to read about the guy on the news and think how you knew about his arsenal back when? Call it in anonymously from a pay phone.

Are there laws against having too many firearms?:confused3

I guess that's the only thing you can really report.

Report Incidents

Everyone should take notice of their surroundings and report suspicions items or activities to local authorities immediately.

Additional Resources

Report any suspected criminal or terrorist activity to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

* Online report to FBI Tips.
* Local FBI Field Offices
* International FBI Offices

Report suspected immigration or customs violations to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

* Report suspicious activity by calling 1-866-347-2423.

As long as the types of weapons the guy has are legal under the laws of your state, and he hasn't done anything to be charged under any type of hate crimes act, there's really nothing you can do.

It's not illegal to have a small arsenal of rifles, shotguns, and licensed handguns, etc. In most states it's illegal to have a bazooka, full automatic AK-47 or M-16, plastic explosives, grenades, pipe bombs, etc.

It's also not illegal to hate or to be a racist. It's not illegal to distribute racist or hate propoganda. WHile I think it's dispicable, I'll defend that right of free speach to the end.

All you know is what you've been told second hand by someone who it seems has a biased opinion to begin with.

If you believe that he's got illegal weapons, make an anonymous tip call to the ATF. Otherwise keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut--for now. SHould you get any information about anything illegal the guy is actually doing, calle the FBI--these types of situations are generally their jurisdiction.

And frankly I'll put money on it that Homeland Security, the FBI, ATF, state and local police, and others already have him on their radar.

SO know that I know what I know, what do I do?
I am not sure there is anything you can do, because what you 'know' is hearsay not first hand knowledge of anything. It could be true, could be rumor that someone who didn't like him started. That happens pretty often.

I am not sure how seriously a phone call would be taken that starts with "someone told me that they heard..." I really only think you would be able to do something if you had specific information regarding something illegal he is doing.

If anything, I would be urging the person who actually has knowledge of any illegal activity to make a call, they are more likely to be taken seriously because they would be a witness.

Are you sure it is true? Did it come from a reliable source that didn't just hear it from someone else? Does the guy make a lot of racial comments? I really can't picture the kkk tring to take over the goverment, but i guess you never know. How would they even do it?
I personally would wait it out awhile before I said anything. It will be obvious that it is you if you make a phone call right away.

Call in what? If they investigated every single call that started with "A friend told me that she/he heard", they would be doing nothing but chasing after rumors.

The OP needs something concrete to report, like first hand knowledge of illegal activity. I totally understand the OPs concern, but she really doesn't have knowledge of anything. Unless it can be substantiated, it's nothing more than rumor. Even if the person who told the OP is a credible source, and the person who told that person is a credible source...the person who started this could have made it up.

If it is true, I would bet the same thing.

I'd bet he's on their radar too, but if he's not then he should be. Make the call. Even if they don't take you seriously, or it turns out to be nothing, you've done your part to protect others and will ease your own conscience about the situation.

The OP also heard that they were planning to overthrough the government...that is what needs to be reported.

EXACTLY!!!! It's easy to think they already know - but they have a lOT to keep an eye on. If everyone would report truly suspicious behavior rather than saying "well, its probably nothing..." or "they probably already know..." there would have already been less terrorism in this country. This isn't a case of someone who looks "shady" or "suspicous" - that's not grounds for calling. This is someone with an aresenal and a PLAN.

Yes, they do have alot to keep an eye on. That is why is important to report suspicious activity that you have witnessed, not rumor and second hand information that cannot be substantiated.

The OP has no proof that this person has 'an arsenal and a plan', unless she has seen it and heard it from him.

Imagine how bogged down our homeland security, the FBI and local law enforcement would be if they investigated every single phone call like that. They just do not have the manpower or the time to deal with suspicions that are not based on first hand accounts.

I agree. If it will make the op feel better then she can call and report it, but if I wasn't 100% this was true I wouldn't call. I wouldn't want to put that stress of be investigated by the FBI on the family of this guy (if they take it seriously.) Why don't you just ask your friend, tell her this is what you heard and you want to make sure it isn't true.

I have met freaks like this before. I really don't take them too seriously since I had heard this kind of talk about 15 years ago and their "war" hasn't happened. I think these kinds of people are small minded (obviously) without a whole lot of intellectual capacity who buy into a lot of silly propaganda. Think sheep. The ones that I met were very poor and uneducated, so do they really have the means to build an arsenal of dangerous weapons? Yeah right.

I'm a 'live and let live' type of person so my very first instinct would be to remain silent until I have some evidence, however small, that this might be true.
After reading the OP I don't see where Chager has ever heard this man or his wife say anything about guns, race, or any plan to do anything at all and apparently Chager has had multiple contacts with this family over the years.
Right now it's just too much hearsay for me.
It smacks of a witch hunt or something and I just would not be calling a federal bureau for this situation.

Not to mention that if you make the call and it turns out to be nothing, your credibility is gone for future calls where your information COULD be the difference between life and death.

Don't cry wolf on a rumor.

Sure hope they aren't DIS'ers, cause you gave a lot of detail, and your location is stated in your tag.

sus·pi·cion

The act of suspecting something, especially something wrong, on little evidence or without proof.

Homeland Security's website states:

Report Incidents
Everyone should take notice of their surroundings and report suspicions items or activities to local authorities immediately.

Absolutely I would call or email it in.
