Scared of Fireworks

I'm helping a friend plan a trip and she mentioned that although they are wanting to watch MK's fireworks, she's a little worried about how her son (5 years old) will react. He has previously been scared of them at July 4th etc, and she asked if there was anywhere semi protected to watch? We've basically always been front and center for them, so I didn't know for sure? Any suggestions?

What's scary? The noise? Look into child-size earmuffs.

If its the noise, watching from the Poly beach may also be an option. You don't hear the firwork noise, but can see most of them. You would miss the castle projections.
Otherwise, the earmuffs are a good suggestion.

When my oldest was that age, she was terrified of the fireworks noise. We bought headphones designed to protect young children’s ears from loud music/noise. They don’t eliminate the noise completely but do muffle the sound so it isn’t as severe. Regular ear muffs used for warmth won’t work if the child really hates the sound.

This is the question.
If it's noise, the some ear protection would be an option.
If it's not noise, if the child is for instance, afraid of the fire falling from sky, then a different solution is needed for sure.

It's usually the loud sounds that bothers kids - my son wore shooting earphones for years. They really help.

They are good for sporting events as well.

Usually, sure. But I know I've met some kids afraid of the darndest things. You can never assume

Watching from the end of Main Street in the train station would be more covered and enclosed and might provide a sense of protection. Otherwise, you can watch from the beach at Poly or the bridge between Bay Lake Tower and the Contemporary without the crowds of MK.

TTC (MK Parking Lot Ferry Station) is really about the best.

They have some great ear protection out there for kids. I have several friends who play old time music and will put these on their young ones when they come by square dances or the like for a little bit. Hope she is able to find something that works!

When he was very little my son was anxious and I noticed he was ducking his head. We put up his hood and he felt "safer"! LOL
