:scared: We are suppose to be taking a trip in the end of Aug. for my DD 5th B-Day. But we are flying DELTA :faint: .My DW and myself are going :crazy2:. Iam throwing loads of pixi dust their way pixiedust:.Anyone else with this problem, and feeling helpless?

I must be totally out of the loop, but what is going on with Delta?

My DH and I have planned a 10th anniversary trip  to St. Lucia for August, and booked it with Delta Skymiles. . . So not only will our trip be cancelled, I guess we lose all those miles we have earned flying to Orlando. The cheapest flights we could find as an alternative would more than double the cost of the trip, so yeah, I'm freaking out a little as well. I'll also work on sending some Pixie Dust their way pixiedust:
I'll be disappointed, but I would really hate it if something happened to your 5th birthday party. I guess we can't do anything but wait and see. . .

Their pilots have voted to strike if Delta decides to void their contracts and cut their salaries. The deadline is April 15th.

We have a cruise at the end of June- we are flying to San Juan, PR to get on the ship. We will be fine (we are flying US Air out of Charlotte), but my Mom, Dad, Brother and SIL, and their 3 kids are all fliyng Delta out of Atlanta. Mom already paid for the tickets, and she is really worried about the strike.

IMO, IF there is a strike, it won't go on for very long- I hope.

I've been looking for some flights for our trip in Nov. No hurry, but just like to check. Anyway, I found some really good times that would be perfect, but they are Delta flights run by Freedom Airlines. Does anyone know if something happens with Delta will that affect these flights too? Just asking because I don't want to book and then have them cancelled. I'm still going to wait and hope something good comes up with Air Tran, but I like to keep my options open. Thanks.

Wow, I totally missed that one! Luckily I don't have any flights scheduled right now but, we usually fly Delta since it usually works out to be cheaper for us. I will have to keep this in mind. They will be loosing an unbelievable about of money if there planes are grounded. I bet they will work something out quickly.

Here's Pixie Dust for all of you with Delta Flights scheduled :wizard:

I hope it will all work out...

Well. . . actually Delta is already in bankruptcy. On CNN, a Delta official was quoted as saying that a strike of more than 24 hours would result in Delta going totally out of business. So this is indeed a touchy situation. . . . :sad2: I have no idea how this will effect all the "partner" airlines. I do know that just since we booked St. Lucia for August, our flight times and "operating"partners have changed at least twice.

I'm totally freaking out because we are supposed to leave on 4/29. I'm afraid we're going to be left with nothing at the last minute.

CNN has a new story that was posted yesterday. It is quite a complicated situation, with lots of legal questions. If you want to read it, it is under the travel section and the title is "Showdown Looms at Delta". The basics are that they are in arbitration over the new contract for pilots. If the arbitration rules against the pilots union, they say they will strike, sometime after the holiday weekend. They don't know how much notice they will give Delta regarding the strike or how long it will last. Airline analysts still doubt the strike wil happen. :confused3

Yikes! I've already bought tickets on Delta for all 6 of us = $1,800.00

1-2-3 breathe! Do not stress out and worry too much over it. Whatever happens or does not happen with Delta cannot be controlled by you, so no need to fret. I flew USAIR down once and WHILE I was in FL was the date of the strike. No worries, all ended up okay and I got home JUST fine.

You have plenty of time to figure things out. A lot of the big airlines have had issues, but one as big as Delta, like USAIR, usually finds a loophole to stay in the air.
