I'm talking to him. He said he never goes out in public, on VMK, and that's why nobody has heard of him.

I asked him why he can't just give me the codes, and he said "Because I do hidden mickey quests and other quests around VMK".

Most of you already know this, but in case we have any new readers:

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER ( did I say Never? ) give anyone your log in information!!!!
This scam was very big once before and many players fell victim. PLEASE don't let this happen to you!

Staff does not need this to add something to your account! For example, the prizes passed out by Staff last night in the game were magically put into our inventory; no trade window, no message window. The holiday gifts we sent using the 'contact us' page only required knowing the players title, not their log in info. This scam was very big once before and many players fell victim. PLEASE don't let this happen to you!

Another caution, while there is a place to add your IM contact info, you may want to consider passing this on to friends via PM rather than posting it where anyone with an account has access to it. If you are contacted by someone you don't know, or who is bothering you, BLOCK them immediately!

if you are using AIM 6.0, in the chat window you can go to People > Ignore or Block.

Well, it was pretty obvious that you were leading him on.


VMKPlayer is not new. I 'exposed' him and posted a drawn out aim conversation regarding his "scamming" here on the boards. In that conversation, it was revealed what his/her intentions were and how they went about reaching those goals.

I do not think he/she is "evil," I just think they are misguided regarding how to help people.


This was way back during the summer, so yeah... old news.

We can still do what I said way back. If you can make him come into an IRC chat or your forum you can get his ip and send it into VMK and they can ban him.

This also goes for people contacting you via PM for trades and they have never once posted here on the VMK boards or the DIS anywhere for that matter.

I would suggest that if someone contacts you via PM or IM(if you have that in your profile-we think you shouldn't but that is your decision)for trades to decline the trade and tell them if they can post on the boardsthen you will be more than happy to trade with them at a later date.

If they can not post here there is several reasons why they can not post here and none of them good.

yes this guy must be a little slow- to think that the Dis people have such a short memory as to be able to carry this out again...

He is contacting DIS members based on your DIS profile having your aim contact on it.

Remember what others have said- never give out any information and keep chat short and then block him. He will eventually get bored and stop doing this.

Just from what I've heard, I have to say this.

VMKHELPER, and people like him, disgust me. If you can't play a game for yourself, then there's absolutly no reason you should resort to the stealing of accounts, if permanent or just to get wealth. Pitiful.

OK, I'm sorry, but I have to point something out here.

The fact of the matter is that this person exists purely because there are ppl out there actively seeking ways to get rich.

As long as someone will ask about get rich quick schemes, there will be ppl there to fill that need.

So, for those of you who were contacted and engaged in any conversation with him, my suggestion would be to re-think your motivation. I'm sure if he had given out some magic code, these posts never would have happened, and all would be happily spending those credits!

Heck, I know if I had some magic codes that gave credits, I'd be entering them.

Now, the fact that he's asking for log in information does, indeed mean he's as dumb as a box of rocks. I'm glad none of you were hurt in this.

If you're using AIM (i'm pretty sure this feature is on every version) and you're scared about falling for this scam you can set your screen name that only people added to your buddy list can talk to you. It blocks all outsiders. There are some cons to this feature, but mostly it is pros. I use this feature.
