I'm happy to say that I've never been scammed out of anything. There have been a few that have tried, but, they were never successful.

I set my own rules for trading.
1. Never have multiple trade windows unless it's someone I trust.
2. Never trade for codes unless it's someone I trust. And then I usually want the code first to enter it before I trade over my stuff. If I trade away a code, I want the items first before giving up my code.
3. Never accept a trade unless what I'm trading for is in the window.

There should be one more option on the poll: No, Not yet!

As soon as someone thinks they can't be scammed, check mate!

I am a mean player.....I don't answer trade requests. I have given plenty of goodies away....to players who have not asked for items and it has been a pleasant surprise for them....but I have not traded with anyone at their request.

I have never been scammed out of anything. But people have tried. Same like those others.

I've been scammed twice. I got 1 of them back, but not the other.

ok i have been scammed 23 times yes i count it every time to day it happend again and it happens most with beta, sparrow, stitch, and just about every kinda beta yes yes i have been scammed alot but i always seem to get what i need back by trading

well, i've been scammed 8 times. Obviously i didn't learn my lesson untill the last scam..:rotfl: but, i go to people's rooms and they say "quitting vmk" because they got scammed 'once'. like queen i the post above me, 23 times. she still stands. And obviously, i try my best. And no if you wonder if i've scammed, i haven't :). So remember this post. If you get scammed once, you don't have to leave the wonderful kingdom of dreams :)

I basically just trade with others on the DIS. Other then that I don't really trade with other VMKers. I trust DISers. I may be trusting them more then I should seeing what's happening to everyone, but I still trust most DISers more than the other VMKers.

Don't be fooled by DISers... Just because someone posts here, does not make them honorable.

I've never been scammed, but that's most likely because I rarely trade. By and large the only time I trade is when I 1. missed something or 2. want something park quest-wise that I don't have. I hate trading for the most part. Most everyone wants rarer than rare stuff that I do not have so I usually don't even try to offer on anything like snowmen and such.

I've never been scammed because I don't trade. I only traded once in the two years I've been playing, and that was for a pair of gold ears since I wanted them so badly. And even then that was when the game was still VERY new, when things were more pleasant and less risky. To put it in perspective, all the person I traded with wanted in return for the ears was two tiki fountains. Ahh, those were the days...

Not sure if this is considered a "scam" or not or maybe it's just my stupidity :) But back when the pink monster doors were rare, I traded a lot to get a pair not knowing that the doors had been made available through the online game that day.

And yes, this was a DIS'er that did this..... ;) Like Bears said, not all are "trustworthy" on this board.

Pink-

Send me the id when you get a minute, thanks.

I hope you picked scammed because yes that is a scam.

Looks like we are almost right at 1/2 the people who have weighed in that trade have been scammed.

that is sad. :sad2:

I was scammed once. About this time last year. I'd been playing for about a month. I was Born in Park (DLR) so had some in-park quest stuff, gold items, etc. A "friend" of mine came into my trade room and offerred me a 5* Fireworks magic. The only magic I had was the free Kelloggs stuff and Teleport - I was anxious to get any kind. I didn't know how to play Fireworks back then to get my own either. This was also before you could see stars in the trade windows.

I trusted this person since they were on my Friend List and I'd hung out with them a handful of times before this fateful day. If memory serves I traded away four gold items (turnstile, scoreboard, etc), gold ears, magic mirror, and a couple other in-park items. He wanted more, but that was all I was willing to part with (and I thought I was being frugal!).

The trade completed and I put on my new magic. It wasn't 5*. It was only 2*. As I was typing "Hey this is only 2*" He'd left my room and I saw he'd removed himself from my friendlist.

I was bummed, but at least I got something for my trade - though not what I thought, and I'm sure I overpaid. Heh.

I've had other people since then use the Star Swindle, along with others like Let Me Try it On, This Isn't Buyable it's Rare, etc.. I've only ever fallen that one time.

On another note, just the other day my friend who's new to the game lost a pair of cowboy pants I'd gifted her when she let someone "try them on" and got booted from the room for her kindness.

Live and learn.

Well it looks like I need to change my answer. I have been scammed.

A while back I loaned a DISer an Inferno. I recently asked for it back, and was told that it wasnt a borrow, it was a gift AND on top of that they supposedly traded it away, YET they were seen wearing the inferno a week or so ago. Then This Diser deleted close freinds of mine (the ones who saw her with the inferno) from her friends list.

Now, for sure it was a borrow. I made that perfectly clear when I loaned it to them. PERFECTLY CLEAR. But how insulting is it if it was a gift (it was a loan!) to trade away a gift of inferno.... Either way it's rude and low class.

How's that for a scam, or would this be considered just screwed

When I first got my flip hat on of my "friends" said that she would report me if i didn't let her "borrow" it.

LOL bug.. You're character rules.:rotfl:

I've been scammed... I was trading for a stitch hat.. Luckily I was running a screen recorder and got the whole thing. I sent that to VMK along with the scammers name and got my stuff back...

What is a screen recorder?

No, I've not been scammed. I'm very careful of the few trades I do.

I have only loaned out items once, 4 blue soliders last Christmas to someone who wanted to enter the Holiday ride competition but didn't want to trade everything she owned for the soldiers, which I certainly can understand. I concidered that I might not get the items back but I wanted to do something for this lady who does so much to help other people in VMK. This was a lovely DIS lady well know here on DIS. After the competiton we traded for one soldier and she returned the other three. :) I was happy I did it.

I might not do it for anyone else in the future, but I would do it again for her. :grouphug:

Aww! HUGS!

I really wish that people would just be nice to each other instead of out for everything they can get for themselves. :sad2:

That i know of, no i havn't been scamed. I was most likely when i first joined vmk but that kind of explains why. And yeah, people have tried to scam. I think the most sorry excuse is either "I am new to vmk and poor, can you plz give me some free" or "accept and i will trade you again and give you your items you wanted to trade for". The good thing is that vmk fixed that accepting thing where ppl would quickly take away their items and acceot and you couldn't do anything about it.

I've never been scammed because I don't really trade that much. If I do trade, i usually go on Dis and post it because I trust Dis most. :goodvibes

I almost got scammed once, i was offering for black ears so i accepted the trade but when it came to the final trade window i saw the black ears weren't there, i close the trade and told the person not to scam people, and then he has the nerve to say..." Oh i didn't know they weren't there, I think they disappeared by themselves" :sad2:
