As many of you know there are a lot of different scam emails running around right now. I just got one from "PayPal" of course it really isn't but I wanted to warn everyone that these are still floating and that this one looks particularly legit. Has the logos, colors, and if you hit reply it shows up as a paypal.com email addy it is only when you search beneath that that you come up with the real server and email addy.

Thanks for the heads up Figgy! There are some really nasty people out there!

Also, if you don't already know.......Paypal states to make sure when you log in the web address reads https//www......etc for the address.....it indicates the secured site

NOTICE the S after http......

Always look at the full headers on any suspicious message.

You can bet your bippy that PayPal (or eBay or Amazon or whomever) is NOT using a hotmail (or Yahoo or FreeMail or whatever) account to send messages to their customers. :smooth:

Sometimes the sneaks hide their ISP very well. :(

I've received several emails over the last few weeks both "supposedly" from ebay and PayPal. I reported them to both PayPal and ebay....both were bogus.

Just be careful and ebay or PayPal will never ask you for your password in an email.

There are some nasty people out there.

Along the same ripoff, I received an email supposedly from Yahoo.

I think a good rule of thumb is never give your personal info to anyone who asks for it in an email, and if on the phone, only if YOU intitate the call.
I rec'd a supposed call the other day from Publisher's Clearing House (I have ordered mags from them in the past) and because I was a 'valued' customer they had this special FREE offer blah blah blah. Well SHE didn't ask me for my info, BUT her 'supervisor' did call back to confirm I understand everything (what a nice guy, huh? ) and THEN asked for my Visa card number....I said "Umm....I surely WON'T give my info to someone who calls ME", and I hung up. I emailed PCH and they confirmed it was a bogus phone call.

We just have to be careful and not give info just because someone asks.
