There's always such good advice here on the Dis. Hopefully someone can help me. I have a 7' Ficus tree here at work. It has developed scale. The greenhouse gave me some spray and told me to rub the little things off with a toothbrush. Well, you can imagine what a pain that is...:sad2:

They also said that it's next to impossible to get rid of. Should I keep trying? Have any of you had scale on a plant and gotten rid of it?

The problem is, I'm actually trying to give away this tree. We've run out of room, but I can't give it to this lady with scale!

Throw it away, please. Your plant is infected and it will just infect other plants.

Bag it in large garbage bags as if it is toxic material. You do not want any of the soil or plant parts in your yard.

Scale is to big of a PITA to get rid of on a houseplant.

Thanks for your response. That's what I kinda thought, but I HATE to throw out this tree. It has sentimental value, and it's a nice tree.

DH says it's going out tomorrow. :sad1:

I understand. I had a Ficus that we killed accidentally. It was 20yrs old.

Make sure you bag it, including the SOIL. Do not let any soil or plant parts remain in your yard.
