What machine to you use with your scal program? My husband wants to get me a new cutter  and we were wondering what cutter people recommend.

I have heard that Ecraft & Cameo are both great - you might check out the craft edge MB & see what they are enjoying - that's my plan when my E dies

He likes the look of the ecraft because it doesn't take a mat. He is thinking it will save money in the long run. I know Joann's had them at Christmas. I should have gotten it then.

I still have a working Expression, but when it kicks the bucket, I'm leaning toward the eCraft because the mats drive me to drink!

Let us know what you decide and show us your creations!

So far I have been cutting some of Reddy's creations. My hubby is the one who really plays with the software and wants a different cutter. He dislikes my expression.

I would love to see how they turned out for you

One of my friends had the ecraft and ended up selling it because of the no mat thing. She preferred using a mat so she could plot her cuts from different papers at one time. Without a mat, she could only cut from one paper at a time.

I have heard nothing but glowing reviews of the cameo - easy to use, crisp cuts even for small or intricate designs.

I am 100% going to the Cameo when my E dies. (hope not soon because of my Disney carts) I've heard great things and I've liked my QK and the fonts. Check out 2peasinabucket.com for reviews and comparisons.

Glad someone mentioned the ecraft and mat issue. A lot of people don't like to use their computer. I love it since I can visually see where to put everything on the mat.

My DH is the same way - he comes up with all these cool designs in SCAL. He made an awesome trinket box from a single sheet of card stock and now he's making wallets out of cereal boxes :goodvibes

My Cricut is still working with SCAL, thank goodness. I like what I've read about the Cameo so maybe someday if we find a good deal.

I'm curious to see what you get and how you like it . . .

Has anyone heard anything about the Pazzle? This is the new adventure he is on.

So jealous of those that have DHs who do the computer part for them. :lovestruc My would have the ability for sure, but absolutely not desire or interest too.

So how does a Cameo work? Does it just cut anything you can print?

I have a Cameo.... and I love it! You can DL for free the Silhouette (Sil) Studio software for free. And each Tues the Sil Store offers a free cut file. Start DL those file if you think you might someday purchase a Silhouette.

I have recently purchased the Sil Studio Designer Edition (SSDE) for just $25 (it was on sale, usually it is $50). The main advantage to this upgraded software is the abiltity to open SVG files.

But the complete advantage of a Sil cutter is the ablility of the print and cut. Totally blows me away each time I do it. Sometimes I just don't want to paper piece each thing.

I need more ink for my printer.

I bought my Cameo from Oh My Crafts, for $205-ish, you can use their coupons/code for the Cameo even tho the coupon/code says it not valid for the Cameo. I bought mine with a 25% off code.

I wanted to add that you should check out Under a cherry tree blog. She does a GREAT job explaining how to use a cameo. She uses both MTC and the SSDE. She also has a great review of some of the different cutters.

I have not tried to print and cut with SCAL3. but I think it will do it too, but I need more ink ;-)

Could you show some stuff you printed and cut? So, you print it first on your printer and then put it in the machine?

Yes, you print it on plain old white 8.5x11 cardstock, The software prints to your printer (Including the registation marks, that the cutter then looks for), then you place on your mat, and send to the Cameo, and it cuts around your image. Really simple, and very accurate!

I don't have any photos of what I have done, I will work on getting those, but in the meantime, check out this post and video from Jin on Under A Cherry Tree using Lettering Delight files.

Oooh....nice!!! I can't wait to hear how you like it.

Just wondering where the best place to purchase SCAL is? My cameo arrives tomorrow and I can't wait to play.
