SCAL and gypsy problems

Happy thanksgiving!

I posted this on the cricut boards but no one has responded to me yet.

Does anyone who have SCAL also bought the gypsy? I have the gypsy and was thinking about getting SCAL because I have seen some amazing vinyl projects on the cricut boards. But I am reading stuff on the SCAL forum that the firmware update for the gypsy causes SCAL to be blocked.

Wondering if anyone has had this problem/issue? Now I am wondering if I need to get another expression tomorrow at WM just to use for SCAL. Not what I wanted to do, but I would really like to make some things for Xmas with SCAL.

I've synced my Gypsy with my laptop and am still able to use SCAL with my Cricut I have done almost nothing with the Gypsy yet though!

Jennifer, thanks for responding.

When you hook your gypsy up to the cricut for the first times it prompts you to do updates to the firmware. Have you done this? This is where I am hearing are where the problems are. The updates to the firmware on the cricut from the gypsy are supposedly blocking SCAL.

I did do the updates, about 2 weeks ago, I remember it took me about 8 times for them to finally take, but once they did, it was fine.

I also just did a test cut, just in case. I attached the Gypsy to the Cricut and cut something out of Gypsy Wanderings (because I haven't attached any carts yet) and then disconnected the Gypsy and connected the laptop (didn't even unload the paper) and cut with SCAL. Worked just fine
