Okay, I got a question for all you gals who are having or more specifically have already had your wedding at SBP...

What kinda of shoes did/will you wear? For already married SBP brides, if you wore high heels did your heels get stuck in the boardwalk? Any pictures or thoughts would be awesome.

I've seen several shoes I loooove, but am terrified I will get my heel stuck and fall on my face! :rotfl: I might do that anyway, since I'm clumsy!

we were worried about this too, so we wore flats for the ceremony and changed into heals at the reception.

Hey! I wore about 3 inch heels (I'm really short!) and they were pretty thin, not spike, but almost there. I did not get stuck in any of the slats, but our photographer said that he has seen lots of girls fall out of their heels when they got stuck!! :worried: There is a couple of slats running vertically instead of horizontally on the Boardwalk and he told me to walk on those, and I was fine!

Good advice about walking on the vertical planks, but I don't know if I'll remember to do that.

I loooooved your flats! They were so cute! I might do that, but I'm trying not to have to hem my dress, because right now with flats it will be a bit too long. If I wear at least 2 inch heels (I'm used to higher) than my dress will be perfect length. I don't want to wear high high heels because I'm 5'7 and my DF is 5'10 and I don't want to be taller than him... what to do!? :confused3

I'm wearing flats....slippers, officially. There's a pic in my pj if you want to see (i think pg 2).

Never thought of the shoe issue, glad I went with flats!!

Hey-I was thinking the same thing but didn't think to actually post it...I'm hoping to wear a chunky heal maybe as I'm short (5'1") but don't like most high heels...I'm hoping to wear a 2-3" heel or something...haven't really seriously looked at shoes yet..

Thanks for posting this question though!!

:)

Oh, while on the topic of shoes on the boardwalk, here's a note about about other shoes on the boardwalk. On multiple occasions, I've worn flip flops, which are pretty smooth on the bottm, on the boardwalk. You know how Disney cleans stuff all the time and rinses off the walking areas to keep them clean and pretty? Well I've fallen once :rolleyes1 and slipped a few times when wearing flip flops when the boardwalk is. Make sure whatever you wear is not smooth on the bottom so you have good traction.

Sorry you fell.... I promise you I didn't laugh at all when I read that... ;) Awesome point though!

How about smooth, spiky heels! That's sounds like a deadly combination for me! :lmao:

DecemberBride...I am so glad you are on the Dis because you are asking questions I hadn't even thought of!! I have high heels purchased already and it didn't cross my mind about getting stuck in the boardwalk...Must re-think shoes!!

I just got married at SBP on may 8th. I wore kitten type heels, not mega thin, probably about 1/2 inch diameter and our co-ordinator Karen told me to stick to the straight vertical slats.
Here's a picture for those of you yet to encounter the Boardwalk

I didn't fall out of my shoe and I managed to save it ok, but at least it wasn't camcorded!

I am totally wearing heels. I live in heels, love them and if that means I walk a lil goofy I am fine for that to get past the boardwalk.

I loooove loooove looove heels so there is no way I will wear flats on me wedding day. But that is me :)

About the same distance just coming form the other direction :) We did it in my 3 1/2 inch heels when I was up there in May

Or we can just make it work in high heels! Follow the right planks maybe, but I don't know if I could think about that while I'm on my way to get married!

Haha, I never thought poor shoe choice would be a cautionary tale, but I'm glad to help :)

As an aside, I've done a lot of thinking about walking in heels during the wedding. I'm not good with that any day of the week. But I thought about it, and I noticed something important. You ever notice during weddings, the bride always has someone holding her arm. Someone going down the aisle, and her new husband going back up. I previously thought it was just a romantic tradition, but now I'm pretty sure it's to make sure the bride doesn't fall over her dress or because she decided to wear unreasonable shoes:thumbsup2

Anyway, if you decide to go with the smooth, spiky heels anyway, make sure you have a good videographer. You might be able to make some money off of America's Funniest Home Videos. Either that or you wouldn't fall, but instead of thinking about your wedding, you'd be thinking about where your feet were going instead the whole time.

How about Beach Club Resort to SBP?

Of course, it depends on where your room in the hotel is. But, from the main back door of the beach club, it's probably about a 8 minute walk. That's a bit further than from the Boardwalk inn. One thing you want to keep in mind is where you will actually be walking. If you're at the Beach Club, you're going to have to walk up a concrete incline, which is bridge over the area where the boats to epcots go.

Here were my shoes! I had no problems at all on the Boardwalk. :)
