I just bought the black one with 2 tiers not the silver one featured in Creative Keepsakes magazine. I like it but I do want to put 12 x 12 paper in it too. My question is for those who have it, did you buy file folders or make them yourself? If you bought them where did you get them at? If you made your own, how did they come out?

I tried out one of those 2 tiers and my paper didn't stand upright. I ended up getting a little filing cart on wheels and just keep the lid off.

I also use legal HANGING folders to sort my different colors of paper. The standard green can be found in the store. I have a black filing cart so I purchased gray ones from their website. I didn't care for the yucky green.

Hope this helps!

I bought the silver cart at Staples. :)

To make the folders, I used a tip from the 2Peas board. I bought 2 packs of purple legal size hanging file folders. I took one box and cut them open across the bottom (so they were in two equal pieces). Then I cut off the tops of the folders in the other box so that I could tape (I used clear packing tape) the bottoms of those folders to the original folders, making them nice & deep to hold 12x12 papers. Clear as mud? ;)

Anyway, I *love* this way of storing my papers! There's enough room on top for 25 jam-packed folders of paper, plus I can use regular 8-1/2x11 hanging files (facing the other way) next to them. I keep my packs of CM paper (the packs in plastic bags) on the shelf underneath the folders. I don't have anything in the drawers under the shelf yet, but I'm sure I will make use of those, too!

I saw the same post on 2Peas and was wondering...did you make the folders 12", 13" or deeper?? Not sure what measurement to use and the post didn't say. Sure is cheaper than buying Cropper Hopper refills at $10/pack of 6!!

So far I like this rack. DH hasn't seen it yet and will probably flip asking why I bought it instead of a regular filing cabinet. I just got tired of my accordian paper holder flopping all around and falling on the floor.

Can someone link a picture of these file carts you are talking about. I have been looking for something to store all my paper in, and haven't found anything.

Thanks.

I purchased the Eldon Fold n' Roll Cart System. Here is a link to it as well.

I also use the legal hanging folders and just keep the lid off if I have 12x12 paper in there. It works great. I got mine at Office Max for $29.99 (I think they were marked wrong) and I also had a coupon for $10.00 off.

I also put a 2 drawer storage container on the bottom. One drawer is for scraps and the other is for CM short cuts.

I like that cart too, but the two tier works well for me because I scrap only 8 1/2x11 and I only recently started buying the 12 x 12 paper and decided not to precut the sheets into the smaller size before filing. But overall I think each of these carts are great values especially if you do not have much room to store them and the fact that they roll around is helpful.

I actually just took a piece of 12x12 and laid it in the folder and then added a little bit to the top so the paper wouldn't stick out. So (measuring now) they are approx. 12-1/2" deep. HTH! :)

Thanks so much for measuring the folders for me! That was very nice of you.
