Just wanted to get some thoughts on this. The main reason I don't use die cuts more is because they often don't come in the colors I use. I think this might work well for me. Anyone have any thoughts pro or con?

I have been trying hard to resist this purchase, but I just don't know how much longer I can wait. I just think how wonderful it would be to have this for anytime use, but I also see alot of money being invested in all those dies I would want. Good luck as you decide.

I do!! I do!! OK now that is out of my system!

Let me start by saying I got it for $49.98!!! My sister works at A.C. Moore's, AND Michael's had a 40% off coupon - so between the two discounts I could afford one!

I give my sister $10.00 a week and let her buy me a couple of the small dies - right now we are building on the alphabet ones. I actually use it a good bit. However, it can be very costly! I have told her she can't leave her job without giving me PLENTY of notice!:D

I really do enjoy mine. I have learned how to make borders and wreaths using the dies as well so I do not have only simple die cuts. The big benefit is that you can use any and all colors of papers I have even used it for some pictures.

Hope this helps! Ellen

Oh Ellen I am soooo jealous :D!!

You know, I'd feel kinda silly getting this just for myself...big investment and all...but I could also let my custmoers use it at my workshops. It definitely is not a business investment as I wouldn't really see a return on it, but it would just make me feel better to know that its not just benefitting me, iykwim.

My birthday is coming up and I still have Christmas $ (forgot about it...lol) so this may be the thing to do. And there's no way I'd pay full price...I'll find a Michael's coupon! Do they have them every week or just some weeks?

And I think I'd wait for the new shadowbox alphabet since I'm not really that thrilled with the current one!

Any other input?

I've seen these for sale at Michael's, but I haven't seen any examples of the finished product. If you don't mind, could you post somewhere what some of yours look like?
Many thanks,
Gerri

Gerri, go to Sizzix.com to see lots of examples....they have a very nice website!

Ohh gee - they have a new alphabet coming out???

I hope my sister likes her job for a realllly long time!:D

Okay...I've been resisting this purchase until I went to their website from the post below and saw that Shadow Box alphabet. I just may have to have that one! Maybe I should ask for $$ for my birthday:D

I really like the alphabet - I had assumed it would be a boring round one, but when I saw it I was very tempted.

BUT! It's an awful lot of money. I just don't see how I can justify it when I can cut letters in any font by hand (albeit slowly...) - I;ve just looked on their website and after you've bought the machine it's $169.99 for the upper case, and that again for the lower case dies! Ouch!

As much as I would love it, it's not for me.

Lol, Bev....I like my alphabets boring! But lettering is just such a personal thing....the current Sizzix abc's just aren't for me, though they are nice I don't know that I'd use them enough to be worth it. I like the idea that I could cut feltboard pieces too....letters, dolls and clothing for my dd....great travel toys. And apparently it can be used to cut applique pieces for quilts too.

And I wouldn't pay full price for any of this....I know of someone who is placing a wholesale order, or there are Michael's coupons, or ebay....

I bought my machine and both the upper and lower case letters on ebay....if you really watch you can get them very cheaply that way! ( I think I got my entire letter set for $125). I really like the Sizzix, but then once you buy it, you just HAVE to have this die and that die, geesh, what an expense! The new shadowbox letters will be $244.99 and will be available in May. Here we go again! :D
